    Problems with sleeping at night

My son is 8 months old and still nursing. he is eating cereal before bed time, but is now not sleeping through the night. He was sleeping 8 to 9 hours at night and then he became sick and was hospitalized for 4 day. Since being home for two weeks he will not sleep through the night now. he awakes about every 2 to 3 hours and sometimes even more often then that. I do not know if I should let him cry himself back to sleep or what????????? I need help. I feel that I am losing my mind. Even before he got sick he was waking several times during the night, but if I put his pacifier back in his mouth he would go back to sleep. NOT ANYMORE. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think maybe he is just traumatized from the hospital visit??????? I think maybe with time he will go back to normal. I am having problems myself so I dont have any other advice but hopefully someone will! Good Luck!

Re: Problems with sleeping at night

My 8 month old was the same way. When she got an ear infection and a sinus infection at the same time she would not sleep unless I slept with her and that was about a week and the next week she would not sleep in her crib and was getting up 2 to 3 times at night. So I started rocing her to sleep in the dark and humming and when she fell asleep I put her in her crib. Of course she would cry but if I stood there for a minute or two and she could see me she fell back to sleep. But I did have to let her cry it out one night, but with me sitting by her crib. Now she sleeps the whole night and doesn't want to get up in the morning..lol So maybe the crying it out for 2 or three nights may help, but don't ler them cry for more that 20 min. Talk to her while she cries in a soothing voice and if all else fails WHITE NOISE is great! I keep a cd in the car and in her room and play it at night....
