On my daughters first birthday, she ran a temp of 105 and we rushed her to the ER. After lots of tests, including a catheter, they found e-coli in her urine. They told me it was a really good thing that we had brought her there because if left untreated, it could cause kidney damage. I have since spoken with a mom who worked in a ped dialysis clinic who told me the main reason she sees kids there is due to kidney damage brought on by this type of infection. I say, have the test done. That way, at least they will know if she is prone to these so they can stay on top of them before more damage is done to your daughter's kidney. Good luck!
