    teeth yet?

I'm reading alot about babies having their teeth already!  Eddie will be 6 months on the 28th and doesn't have any.  Should I be doing something to help him?  Just wondering.  He is teething but no teeth yet.

    Re: teeth yet?

It's normal that teeth don't come in until 8 months.  I've heard that the longer they're in, the better because they'll be stronger.  Also, you might think the baby is teething, but my doctor gave me some good knowledge with my last baby when I told him I thought she was teething.  He said that babies are learning and experiencing things with all of they're senses, that's why they like to chew on things, not necessarily because they're teething.  And the best...babies don't realize that it's rude and embarassing to drool so they're going to until they realize they can keep they're mouth shut.  Shea is almost 6 1/2 months and she has no teeth, and I'm not expecting any any time soon.

Abby is 5 months and she has been "teething" for about a month and a half, but no teeth yet. She drools, sucks on her bottom lip, and pulls at the breast while nursing. I am not expecting any teeth for a few more months. Oh and she chews on everything! Some babies don't get teeth until later, but not sure the average.

Kiersten will 6 months on Thursday and no teeth yet, but she is teething. My older two were 7.5 months and 8 months when they got their first teeth. However I was 14 months old before I got my first tooth and then I think they all popped out really quickly. And my sil was born with 2 teeth. So there is a really big window.

All children are different and having teeth is no different. My son Patrick now 3 didn't get his first tooth until almost 7 months. My daughter Paige on the other hand now 23 weeks got her first tooth at 3.5 months. She has her two bottom and her two top teeth just cut thru the gums last week at the same time (joyful). There is nothing you can do to help along the teething process and when I tell folks how many teeth she has they usually say WOW that is early and I think it's pretty early to. They don't need teeth to eat at this stage and won't for some time I remember my doc telling me with my son that their gums are just as hard as teeth when they are babies and they can gum food as easily as we chew food.

My kids have all been early teethers.  They have gotten their first teeth between 4-5 months.  Holly and Kylah both have 2 bottom teeth and got them in within days of each other.  Kylah is getting in all 4 teeth on the top too.  Three are through and I can see the other under the skin but I dont see any for Holly yet.  My cousins daughter didnt get her first tooth til after she was a year old!

I agree with the previous posts - and the longer they stay "underground" the less exposure they have to sugar, including the sugar in milk.

But those little smiles with two or three teeth are adorable.
