    immunization

I was just wondering how many of you are getting your babies immunized on schedule... are there any of you out there doing the alternative schedule (by Dr. Sears)??? What do people think about this whole fiasco on vaccines????? My son has been on target with immunizations so far.... and he's been OK except for low fever the day after. however, i still do get paranoid... he's 6-month well check is coming up and im already dreading it. Thank you - any info will be helpful.

    Re: immunization

I have always gone on schedule for all my kids.  I have not seen any adverse effects.  I've never heard of an alternative schedule, but I've never looked into Dr. Sears either so I just looked it up and just on the first paragraph I see something off. He says to wait 2 months to give your child the first dose of Hep B vaccine because it is an STD.  It is not an STD, it is passed by infected blood and bodily fluids with blood in them.  I haven't looked too much into it, but I just feel that if a majority of Doctors feel these vaccines are safe and necessary, and most have been given for many years to children, why question it?  You can research all day on both sides if you want, but still, majority rules. What I'm not getting is the H1N1 vaccines for my children because it is a new vaccine, even if they are saying it's the same.  Overall, I think I would much rather an alive child, then one that has gotten one of the awful diseases that we've managed to ultimately obliterate in US society.  That's my 2 cents, just another mom with another opinion!

    Re: immunization

I have always immunized all my children on the reg. schedule. As for the flu shot or H1N1 Shot we will not be getting them. We have never recieved flu shots of any kind. I do not feel it is nessasary. I am a preschool teacher and I am exposed to germs all day everyday. Not just from my job, but from whatever my other children bring home from school. In my opinion, there is no vaccine that is 100% if you are going to get sick you will get sick. I think if you practice good hygine and build your immune system that is better then any vaccine! Just my opinion.
