Preemies

According to the March of Dimes, half a million babies are born prematurely each year (approximately 10 percent of all pregnancies). Premature infants have many special needs that make their care different from that of full-term infants. Join this board and connect with other parents of premature babies to share advice, tips, and support.

My 1st born was Premature. He was born at 34 weeks. He is now almost 2 years old and althought we have had no serious health problems he has a hard time putting on weight. I dont think he even weighs 10 kgs yet. My daughter was born this year and is 8months and she weighs almost the same as him, maybe even more! Is it normal for that to happen?

Yeah I know what you mean! Keegan weighs 19 pounds 6 ounces but is 34 inches long. But they took out 1/3 of his colon of May 08 so it's harder for him to put on weight and then you add the factor of a preemie and I feel like he just gets longer lol But he eats great we're now working on sippy cups and table foods so we shall see how it goes!

My oldest Kailey was born at 33 weeks. She is 4 now and still only weighs 33 pounds. My youngest daughter Ava is 20 months and weighs 30 pounds. The doctors tell me that is fine.
