Dave's Buttercup:Pumpkin cheesecake is cooling, laundry is in the dryer, the baby is nursing... Life is good ! I was listening to christmas music from iheart radio on my phone while baking. It was fun to get a little spirit going.
Oh man that sounds delicious! Miles just finally went down for his nap.....I wonder what I should make for lunch.

Dave's Buttercup:Its about timing, really. When do you have to go (when you're not pregnant)? I take him to the potty immediately when he wakes up, and he goes. I check his diaper for the squish about every 90 minutes and take him in if its dry. Sometimes he goes, sometimes its just a sprinkle. If he has just nursed I take him to the potty within 10 mins of nursing him. I just let him play with something while he sits there, and give him about 5 minutes. I check and see if there is anything to make a fuss about, and if there is we make a big deal about it. We sign about it and he gets very excited! (I'm hoping to not have to bribe him ever to use the toilet.). Its great, I'm still on the first diaper of the day that I put him to bed with last night!!! He hasn't pooped yet though, so I'm going to really have to pay attention to him when he goes so I can know when to take him.
nikki_44:Ok, I am curious about this potty training thing. Does he have a like sign language signal that he gives you when he has to go??
I'm also curious...I haven't read any of the books, but the ones I have seen always advertise that it's for early potty training, and then go to say that you can have your baby fully potty trained by the age of two. All of my kids have been potty trained by then anyway, just by letting them lead. Does yours set an earlier goal? Also, what do they consider fully potty trained for a baby? Is it when you can hold them on a potty and then they go, or when they can do the whole process by themselves. For example, at 12 months, Elijah was using the potty with our help (taking off the pull-up/undies, then helping him wipe) but I didn't consider him fully potty-trained until 15 months because that is when he was able to do it all himself. I'm so curious about this and am trying to decide if it's something I want to get into, or just do the same for Ella as we did for Elijah.

I guess that makes sense. When I'm prego is pry a good time to train him! I go like every 30 min :) I am interested to see how the poop works out though....I am glad you are doing all this now so I can come back to you when we decide to train Miles.

Let me just start off by saying that I'm only using the book as a guideline, as no one knows how to teach your baby better than you, you know them the best, right? The goal is ASAP; and fully potty trained is having them initiate it on their own and maybe a little help with wiping if its a big job. (I know 5yos that still need a little help getting EVERYTHING back there) I read through the book and just got the support I needed from and went with my own instincts. I haven't picked it back up since. Only you can know your baby well enough to say one thing or another works. Victor has his own little potty that has a seat that we can move on to a taller potty when I don't have to worry about him sitting so high up, but otherwise he sits on the potty by himself. When I take his diaper off he stands ther and let's me put him down and he sits just fine. I'm really into this mostly for the use of less diapers. Like I said, most of the work is on me right now, but I'm working with him and the fact that he wakes up dry in the morning and from naps. That concentrated baby pee STINKS btw! My best friend told me I am crazy for early potty training, so I said "Am I the crazy one? We're the only country in the world that has their kids in diapers after 2!". I am not crazy for wanting to use less diapers!
