Having issues with my cloth...please help me!

I cloth diapered Marissa since she was 1 until she was potty trained and Madalyn since she was born and I have never had an issue till now. I'm at my witts end and close to switching to sposies again. Marissa is still in diapers at night and her and Madalyn both have a nasty rash that looks identical. Well I started using Vinegar in my washes since they were a little stinky, and then it dawned on me that we are pretty sure both girls are allergic to Vinegar so we stopped using that and went back to normal washes hoping that would change their butts. Didn't help. I stripped the diapers, ran a full load of laundry with no soap and an extra rinse, both on hot to get out anything residue that might have been on them, didn't help. If I put Madalyn in disposables for a couple days she clears right up. So it has to be the diapers. I don't know what to do, any tips? We are and have always used All Free and Clear, tried switching to Tide and didn't help any. We use fitteds if that matters. Please help me!

I am going to suggest using a bit of bleach.  I know they say not to but it sounds like there is something in your diapers.  You might also want to try to soak them in SUPER  hot water.  I used to boil water let it cool a few mins and pour over the diapers.   Also have you ever tried Tea Tree Oil.  It might kill any bacteria in your diapers.  RLR Laundry treatment also helped alot when I had buildup on my diapers.  You can google it and maybe try it.

I'd bet you have buildup of detergent in your diapers.  You need to strip for several cycles. I would also try some grapefruit seed extract in your last stripping cycle. Then stop sung normal detergent.  We use soap nuts.  I adore them, no suds but clean, non smelly diapers!   If you choose to use a regular detergent use a tiny tiny amount of it.  Good luck and let us know what happens.

Here is some info from a site that sells them.  I just bought 3lbs on ebay for 25$.  They will most likely last close to 6 mos or more.

We heat our water with wood so our water temp is usually around 180 degrees. So hot water isn't a problem! I tried stripping the diapers by doing 4 cycles with hot water and no soap and it didn't do a thing. I only use a tablespoon of All Free and Clear detergent in with the diapers. I ended up using bleach and that solved the problem. I'm not sure what was in them, but whatever it was it wasn't going anywhere. I did 2 extra washes just to make sure I got all the bleach out. They are back to working great! Thanks for the help.

I really think 1 tablespoon of detergent isn't going to work well with that many diapers. I would really suggest using more than that in the future. I also am a big fan of bleach in my diapers. I use it on my inserts once a month just for piece of mind. Not a whole lot but enough to brighten and clean them up!

I agree with the PP. One tablespoon is probably not enough. When I first started cloth diapering I folowed the prevailing washing mantra: very little detergent and multiple rinses. Now I fill the detergent to line 1 and I don't do any extra rinses at all. I have no stink issues at all.
