    Need exercise ideas

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I work out on the regular (lifting, yoga, spin, cardio). I have read on the internet that there are certain exercises that you should not participate in during pregnancy, but that leaves very little for one who wants to remain active. In my first pregnancy I decided to not exercise in fear of harming my child. I gain an excessive amount of weight, but because of my body being use to exercise (thank you muscle memory), I lost the weight plus some. Does anyone have any fun ideas to keep things fresh? I plan on consulting with my doctor, but if anyone has ideas please let me know.

I like to do things with my little one, walk and run with her in the stroller and really hit the hills. Also, I wear her in a carrier and do squats and lunges. Have you tried swimming? It's great cardio and non stressful to your joints.

There are many things you can do...just make sure to keep your heart rate under 140, do the "breath" test. If you can talk to a friend normally without huffing and puffing, you're not overdoing it and should be fine.  Take it easy on the joints and on any jumping type exercises, i wouldn't do anything like that without discussing it with your doctor.  Spinning, cycling, walking, running if you've been doing it regularly before getting pregnant, yoga(prenatal), pilates(prenatal), strength training(don't lift anything too heavy), belly dancing, and any of the prenatal cardio stuff should be just fine. If you have any concerns at all, discuss it with your doctor first!

There's actually very little you "can't" do. Don't lift more than 25 pounds or lay flat on your back past 4 months. Other than that just taking it easy you can do whatever you did before you were pregnant. As someone who lifted wieghts before preganancy, I was still lifting them 2 days before I delivered! I credit my quick delivery to exercise. I've also come up with some great ideas for workouts with the little one post partum - check out www.bananasbaby.blogspot.com.
