    saw the doc today

i'm just over 28 weeks...met with a different doc than the first time...he was funny, and rather disorganized (in an amusing manner) and very personable...i talked to him about doing a c-section and he agreed that that would be more than ok...it's tenatively on the books for the 31st...i'll be just over 38 weeks then..however he doesn't think i'll make it to 38 weeks...each baby is currently weighing at 3 pounds each...and with having a 10 pound baby last time, he doesn't think that these babies will STOP growing, and they'll EASILY average about 7 pounds if i make it to 38 weeks...he thinks that somewhere between 35 and 36 weeks my uterus is going to go on strike and the babies will be coming then and that i need to make sure that i am ready to head to the hospital once i hit 35 weeks...he was amazed that i don't want him to do a tubal while i'm there and open anyway, i explained that i get a big incision to have the babies, jason can have a small one to prevent more of them! bigwink.gif they are both breech now, and possibly both have the cord around their neck, so he doesn't think they'll flip back around, and even if they do, there is a concern for inducing me and having uterine ruption because i'll be SO big because they will be so big... i'm sure the docs have experience to back them up (this guy does, he's been with the group for as long as i've been giving birth through them) but i have to wonder about the going in to labor on my own thing...i do need to keep reminding myself that it DID happen once before! i gained 4 pounds in 4 weeks..i go back in 2 weeks and see a midwife, then i go back weekly after that, getting a u/s every time i go in...and i passed my glucose which i figured i would...

    Re: saw the doc today

Glad to hear that things are going well -- and I understand about the big baby thing!!!!  My older son was born at 38.5 weeks and he was 8lb2oz and was definitely on pace for being 9-10lbs -- he was continuing to gain 0.5lb/week as they typically expect and I was induced because of problems with my blood pressure (PIH during pregnancy, pre-eclampsia by delivery).  The neonatologist who followed me through both pregnancies predicted the twins' birth almost exactly, about 1.5 or 2 weeks before they were born -- I spontaneously went into labor at 34 weeks and it wouldn't stop despite 2 tributiline injections -- the decision was made that they would be born at that point anyway and didn't get anything else to stop the labor.

I wish you luck in making it to the 31st -- as you know the longer they cook, the better.  But sometimes they have their own ideas.....

    Keep us posted!

Glad to hear that things look so good and that you're having a nice, healthy pregnancy. My boys were born at 28 weeks and were 1.15 and 2.10 so those are some good sized babies you got in there!! I hope you keep them in there as long as possible, bigger and fully developed is better than smaller and early!!

the doctor honestly said "you won't make it to 38 weeks, and when they come between 35 and 36 weeks, you won't believe it and you'll say "wow that doctor rodriguez was right!""....Stick out tongue ...i agree that the longer they bake the better...i was told at the very beginning if i go in to labor after i reach 34 weeks they won't do anything to stop it...my mom is hoping for the 31st (it's of july by the way) because that is my grandpa's birthday and that is who jack is being named for...jason's family is hoping for the 9th of july, which would be that week right there that doc rodriguez has already said i'll deliver in, because that is jason's dad's birthday...i am known for having my kids on other people's birthdays, so we'll see how this goes...at 24 weeks the babies were weighing about 1 1/2 pounds each, and now they are at about 3 each, and the doc thinks they'll keep that going...so i'm thinking at 32 they'll be at about 4 1/2 each...together, that's almost as much as izzy weighed when he was born!  ugh...honestly, i will be SO happy when july hits, no matter WHEN they are born!
