Get your money back for Baby Einstein videos~

At last, they are willing to admit that it's not educational!!!!  You can get a refund if you bought any of the videos~

I'm a big fan of Baby Einstein, but seriously, who really believed they were educational?  LOL!

They are priceless for giving me 15 minutes to pee and make supper without a baby crawling at my feet, though.  :)

Actually there are quite a few people who think they are educational. Particularly the teens that I work with who still believe there is truth in advertising. For them to market something as educational when it actually has a negative affect on infants is just plain wrong so I'm glad to see an end to it.

I think "educational" is a bad choice of words.... however, I felt I got my money's worth out of them (and I'd say we own about half of them and Dylan STILL likes to watch a couple of them). But I think they did help maybe expose children to things they wouldn't normally even if it was because of their parents thinking they were getting more than they really were from them.

For example - I knew they weren't going to create my child into a genius... but it allowed him to be exposed to wonderful classical music (granted, I have that on my ipod, so for him, it was a matter of time) and he also knows quite a bit of sign language that he learned from the videos and I used them as a tool to expose to him to other languages (French, Spanish and German) - full knowing he'd never learn them from me - but it's suppose to open a window or something... and he wouldn't have gotten that elsewhere because I can't speak anything but English.

But yeah, "educational" was probably a push. I heard you can only return like 4 though.

I never felt they were educational. I did feel they were age appropriate and the babies always enjoyed them. I'm not asking for money for them though.. I didnt even buy the ones I have LOL

My mom got Gracie 2 of them before she was even born.  Raven watched one once while I took a shower when she was about 5-6months old from her exarsaucer, Gracie's never seen them!  I've never watched them and wouldn't have any had my mom not bought them.

When I saw the news story I thought the same thing!  I also won't be returning them.  I figure we got our money's worth watching them - Andy loved watching them.

We love BE here!   It was one of the only things that calmed down a screaming Dante and frazzled me!  I swear I would actually sit and relax along with him while they were on.  Of course being able to shower or cook dinner while they were playing was awesome, it was even the theme of Dante's 1st birthday!   I am hoping to watch those again with Brendan.

Dante wanted to watch some last year and I found that they were great for him @ 2-1/2!  The ones with a lot of words  that the kids can actually talk about in it like Baby Shakespear, Baby's Favorite Places and even Meet the Orchestra when he was telling me all the names of the instruments.

LOL Kerry. I tried BE among so many other things in desperation. I have a video of Cady screaming at BE. Didn't work so much for us. Huh?

(I used direct tv but even if i had bought them i wouldn't get my money back either)

Personally, this whole thing made me mad lol If parents were dumb enough to think a stupid DVD of music and weird babies making faces was going to make their baby smarter, then shame on them.  I'm with the other girls and think that the 20 minutes of time it bought me to make dinner every night was well worth the money.  I think it is SUCH a shame that people are actually asking for money back after getting so much use out of their videos - and also that the Mom would designed the videos is now wrecked financially.  Makes me sad.

What makes me sad is the 2 families who are on our county freecycle asking for BE Videos.  You know they are going to just turn them in to get money back.  Sad I tell ya!

A friend called and told me about this and I laughed. Especially because before I told her how dumb that it was she was going to turn hers in. If you beleive your child will be a genious from watching a show like BE then you should also watch informercials so your sales numbers will sky rocket. :)
