Curves?!? I joined today, anyone else go there?

    Hi!

I have a lot of weight to lose since I have had my kids.  I am 210 lbs and 5'9.  I try to go walking a few times a week and I "try": to do yoga daily.  I have such a busy schedule between school, kids, and avon, that I never have a lot of time to workout.  Well, today I went to curves because I was asked to be that curve's avon rep.  While I was taking orders, I was really interested in the set-up and it looked fun.  So I tried it out and loved it.  I thought it would be easy but it kicked my butt!!  So, I joined.  I am so excited, I think it will be great for me.  I really needed to add more exercise to my routine, and this is perfect.  I am soooo excited and proud of myself for taking that first step.

    Anyone else go?

I go to Curves. I really like it but have a hard time getting childcare so I can go. But, my experience there has been really good. It has helped me get to pre-pregnancy weight. I hope you like it!

That is great that you go and that you like it.  I am sorry to hear about the trouble finding child care though.  I have always worried about child care so I haven't joined until now.  Now, my husband is home all the time so he can watch the kids so I can go.

Well, I am happy to report that I love curves!  I really like the women there and I love the workout.  It goes quickly and it kicks my butt.  I'm happy with it!  Big Smile  Oh, and I lost 2 pounds this week!  I am really happy about that because I have been having a super hard time dropping any more weight.

How much does your membership run you? I was thinking about joining curves but there are 2 other womens only clubs here also and I was trying to find the most cost effective one...

Curves at my location (I think it varies depending on where you live) costed me $75 down, $30 a month.

I went to another all-womens gym before I got pregnant with my second baby.  I loved it.  They had free weights, lots of cardio, etc.  But it is $200 down, $50 a month.  Plus, I don't have the time to spend an hour to 2 hours anymore.  I have been so busy, no time.  I did like at that gym that they had extra classes like yoga.  I would do yoga, cardio and weight lifting daily so I would be there up to 2 hours a day.

That is why I am at Curves, it is quick and proven to work.  I really like it.

You should really do a tour of the local gyms in your area to see which one fits your budget and your needs.  Good Luck!

At my location you can do a trial workout for free to see if you like it, maybe they do it the same at your local one. My monthly fee is $31.76 and I can't remember how much it was to sign up. I bet though, if you sign up after the first of the year, they'll have a deal for the new years resolution time. Maybe it will be free.[8-|] I really like it there though. It's fast and it makes me feel good about myself. It's just such a positive atmosphere! And, it's absolutely not a meat market like so many other gyms are. I feel totally comfortable and at ease there.

I have a trial week I'm planning on useing. I'm thinking of joining but don't know if I will have childcare enough for it to be worth it. I belong to our community center that has a exercise room I may just end up going there a few times a week if my dh watches the kids for me. I don't know I think I'll do the trial week and see how I like it. My neighbor goes and she loves it plus it would be nice to work out with someone I know.

Congrats on joining! I have heard of great success' at Curves!Big Smile As a physical therapist though, I treat TONS of women that end up hurting themselves at that gym because of the way it is set up....basically it seems like people are doing too much too quickly. So just watch your reps and you should be fine! Keep us posted on how it is going!
