Confusing period cycle, breastfeeding and not pregnant...what is going on??

So i'm having this burning question. I gave birth this past May 2nd (20008) to a little girl. The lochia blood lasted about a month. A month later, say mid June i got a period of bleeding that lasted for two weeks. Now I read somewhere that your first period postpartum will be a little longer than your normal period lasts; but now it's been a full month and a half, i've gone through july with NO PERIOD. I even took a preg test this morning and it said i wasnt pregnant. My husband and I haven't done anythiing sexual for the last week now. And before that week he would pull out, use a condom, etc. I realizse you can still get pregnant that way but the test says i'm not. Anyways my real question is, what does breastfeeding do to your cycle as far as how far apart it is? And why am I having constant discharge because i know i'mm supposed to be having some dry days somewhere. I'm not even on any birth control either. I consider myself fertile because last month i had a tid bit of spotting and change in discharge. So yeah, im really confused about where my period is. If anyone has any advice or knowledge on this kind of thing it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to hormones...Well more of them. I never spoted or had a period until I started reducing the frequency of my nursing with DS at about 10 months. My MIL started hers a month after her first son, she was BF full time. My sister had no break between her discharge and the star of her first period, she BF fo 3 months. SO basically you are just one of the many women who hear, no period while BF, but your body has a different idea. We are all different. Just remeber to use BC if you dont want to get preggers again anytime soon. My doc made sure to tell me that even though I had no cycle in sight. No period does not mean you can't get preggers. I dont know how much help this provided, but I hope it helped in some way.
