    Smile [:)] Ikea?

I remember someone posting on the great merchandise at Ikea. We had to empty out our entire house due to a mold problem caused by flooding and threw away our matresses and couch. The idea of buying so much at one time is overwhelming and I see the things at Ikea are very reasonably priced. What is your opinion on the quality of their merchandise? Is it worth getting some pieces there and saving a few $$$? Normally I would just shop at a Macy's' and charge it all but I've just cut back my work hours to every other weekend until I can regroup and would prefer to not extend myself in that way. I do have a little cash saved that I could spring for a few things at a modest price so long as it doesn't just fall apart right away. What is anyone's experience with Ikea products?

I have no idea, I don't shop at Ikea.  Sorry to hear you had a mold problem.  Did you get that extension done on your home yet?

    Re: Ikea?

Well the flooding and mold delayed us a bit with that. Husband was approved for the loan. Still working on plans all the time. He gets different ideas and draws them. Honestly I will just be happy for more room.
We actually went house hunting to explore our options and for anything with four bedrooms plus in our school district gets really pricey for some reason. There seem to be plenty in other school districts that would meet our needs but our kids are pretty enmeshed there so we hate to move them. We decided it would be more cost effective to just add on even though it is more difficult in some ways since husband works long hours and is out of town and just doesn't have a lot of free time to get this project going.
He was in the hospital also 2 weeks ago with pancreatitis and that was a bit of a scare.
While he was there though he had family visit that are on a building crew and they want to come and build our house. They are teachers by day and build at night for the extra income.
I think now that we have family on board they will light a fire under husband's butt and get him going on this project. They have done many builds and additions so they will have a lot of positive input and will hopefully help us to come up with a functional space. I want bedrooms, bathrooms and closets, closets, closets.I don't care about much else. I guess a family room space would be nice too if we can swing it.
I think we may get beds for the little two from ikea. I was lucky enough that my parents decided to replace their living room furniture so they are giving us a couch, love seat and ottoman.
We'll just have to get twin mattresses for the boys loft bed and a queen for us.
I do feel like we went a bit backwards instead of forwards but so long as it all works out in the end that's all that matters.
I think if I would have had any idea what a struggle this house would have been I would have never dove into it but I hear many people say the very same thing so maybe it's just a part of life.huh?
