Hoping it's nothing....Andy had another seizure

For the past few weeks Andy has been off.  He's not sleeping well, not listening at all, appetite up and down.....all "symptoms" of a typical 3 year old.  Today I got a call from his school.  During group time Andy clenched his whole body including his fists and started shaking.  They said it only lasted a few seconds, but that for the next hour he had several staring spells and his motor skills were all off.  He was walking criss crossed and falling down.

After that hour, things were back to normal.

I called his neurologist who is extremely confused about this.  He's had a few checkups within the last few months and all has come back fine.  We have an EEG schedule for next Wednesday.  He doesn't think it's anything....but has no idea what could be causing it.  Lack of sleep?  who knows.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT PUT THIS ON FACEBOOK UNTIL I DO!!  I have NO idea how to tell Roy about this, and I certainly don't want him finding out on fb.  He hasn't handled all of this "andy stuff" very well at all.  He admitingly needs to go to therapy, but is afraid to make that phone call.  I'm afraid this is going to put him over the edge.

Oh my gosh Barb, I am so sorry that you have something new to worry about. I really hope it's nothing and I hope that Roy handles it well. I wish so much that you didn't have to worry about your little guy anymore. You've been dealt so much already. Big hugs to you and I'm sending lots of positive thoughts your way that it's just some random inexplicable event that never happens again.

Oh no!!! How frightening! I'm sorry Roy has had trouble with all this. What are you afraid will happen if he "goes over the edge" so to speak? HUGE HUG and more prayers

He will just get extremely depressed and sad.  He blames himself for not taking Andy to the hospital instead of to the doctors.  He plays that "what if" scenario over and over again.  He hates that he is reminded every day that Andy isn't "normal".  For example....we started Andy back into the Little Gym classes....the same ones that Dante and Ander go to/went to.  On his first day he of course ran all over, listening at times, but running more than the other kids were.  I thought it to be a success because he actually went into the gym without crying and separated from me with no problems.  I was excited for the times that he did listen.  Roy left in tears because Andy didn't listen.  I relayed the post natchdaddy and natch had posted awhile ago on how Ander pretty much did the same thing.....and that it was totally "normal" but he doesn't hear that.  He just sees that his "mistake" made Andy the way he is today.

Oh no!  I hope that this turns out to be a random event and that nothing comes of it.  I can't imagine how Roy must feel, thinking it was his fault, and I can see why you don't know how to tell him.  I don't have any advice to give but just wanted to say "hugs" to you.  I'll be praying that it's all OK.

Barb, I'm really sorry to hear this.  I'm glad that PW is still alive so that you have somewhere to turn right now, especially since you aren't sure how to tell Roy.  I hope that you find a gentle way and that Roy can pick up the phone and get the help he needs.  It's not his fault that things happened the way the did.  He's a great dad, and it could happen to anyone.  Stay strong, as you have through out this whole thing.  I'll be thinking of you, Andy and Roy!

Side Note:  Tonight at dance class, Gracie ran around the whole time, she only listened the last 2minutes when they danced to the wiggles.  She's been going for 8weeks now, and she is still having a hard time following directions like the rest of the kids in the class.  So I think that running around a class and not listening to the teacher in an open area is a total 3yro thing.

    LOTS OF HUGS!

Thanks.  I told Roy and he started to cry....but is fine with it now.  I think as it gets closer to the EEG it will get harder for him, but we'll see.

I totally know it's a 3 year old thing - just not everyone (not just roy, but others as well) realize that.  It's also hard when Andy looks like he could pass for an old 4 or young 5 year old.

I"m so sorry.. I'll be thinking of you guys and praying he can find a way to "forgive himself" for what he fees he should have done, and instead of focusing on the past, look to the future.. These things happen an no one can predict it, but that doesnt help.

Oh Barb - I'm so sorry.  I can't IMAGINE how you guys are feeling!!!!!!!  I had no idea Roy was struggling so much, I hope he can come to terms with all of this and realize he couldn't have done anything differently.  Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry!

I really hope it is nothing also.

I think we as human's are our worst enemies some times. Poor Roy. Nothing can change it and it may have happened anyway. You just never know. I am sorry this is happening to you all. HUGS

Hope that Andy is better now and that Roy finds a way to understand that he did what was best.

I don't think I was around when it all began...do you still have the website for andy where it all began so you don't have to go into detail?
