    blow dry or flat iron?

So is it better to let let my hair air dry and then flat iron it.................or just blow dry it.............is one really any more damaging than the other or is it the same???

I don't know what is more damaging, but I do both every day. Yikes. I did buy a flat iron that allows you to choose if your hair is wet, damp, or dry, and sets the heat accordingly. I found it at Kohls for about $25.00.

School me. What exactly does the flat iron do? Is it if you have wavy hair and want it straighter?

Not sure which is better but with my hair texture my hair is shinier and has more bounce when I blow dry it rather than when I flat iron it. I used to blow dry my hair just to get some of the curl out then flat iron the rest and it would just lay straight and it was hard to get my ends to curl. Now I just blow dry and my hair feels softer and curls under rather nicely! I would say with either of them just be sure to moisturize and try and use some kind of heat protection on your hair!

a flat iron straightens your hair Paula. For those of us with curly/wavy hair it gives us the best of both worlds. The ability to choose when you want it straight or not.

If you have hair that is just a bit more then just waves it will straighten it. If your hair is REALLY curly it would be best to blow dry straight first then flat iron.  The flat iron will usually have something in it that takes out the static so it is good to follow even the blow dryer with a flat iron so it will lay more flat. They are both damaging. I really don't think there is a lesser here.

I blow dry and then lightly straight iron the top layer just to defrizz and make it lay nice.

One of the benefits to having natural curly hair is that I just put a dab of curl gel on and blow dry with a diffuser and I'm done..no styling required!  haha!  I never could get my hair to blow dry "flat" - it always has that frizz look no matter what product I tried!  So I just go with the curls! :)

AHA! I have stick-straight hair so no wonder I don't know.

I either go naturally curly (when the weather is warm and I just run my fingers through and air-dry...how lazy is that?  lol) or I blow dry.  Every now and then, for a wedding or something, I flat iron, too.

Ive been a bit of a lazy bum lately and jump in the shower at the last min before my sister drops off Fyzen... I have found it was easier to just let it air dry, and it only takes a min later in the day to straighten out the parts that need it. I hope its not more damaging cause save me time LOL

The lady that does my hair said to let your hair air dry and then use the straightener. Your hair is the most fragile when it is wet so the more you mess with it when its wet the greater the risk of damaging it.

Gee, I feel like a major bum now, I don't blow dry my hair or use a flat iron or anything.  Just dry with the towel, brush it out and go about my day.
