I speak German and English and my husband speaks English as well as some Spanish. Our daughter is almost 2 years old and speaks both German and English. I gathered from previous posts that a lot of you are worried on how you teach your children a second language. You really don't teach them, you just speak to them. Since my daughter was born I only spoke German to her with no exceptions. If other people are around or if we have a playdate, I repeat what I say in English after I said it in German, so that other people/kids know what I am saying.
She has a good 60-70 Word Vocabulary combined for English and German. If I ask her a question in German she will give me the answer in German, if my husbands asks in English, she usually replies in English. She goes to a English speaking daycare and I am the only one that speaks German to her. Point being, you really don't need to worry and think about it too much, just speak to your baby in the language you choose and stick with it.
good Luck
