  First Time Mom In Need of Serious Help Reply Contact Before I get to my serious question here is so information on me and my daughter. I'm 22 years old and a first time mom :) My fiance and I were thrilled when we found out we were having a baby... Even though Kyleigh Rae wasn't planned, she was the biggest blessing and most precious gift from God. I have many friends who are young mothers like myself and never take their children anywhere. They dump their babies on grandparents, siblings... pretty much anyone willing. I made the decision from day one that I would not stop my life or my daughter's lfe because I had a baby. I take here everywhere. If I need to go to the mall, she goes. If I go out to eat, she goes. If I have to go to Wal-Mart she goes. I love spending every second of every day with her and sharing this life together. Heres my big question... At what age is it ok to take a child to a swimming pool. Of couse of the precautions would be taken... lots and lots of sunscreen, a water proof diaper, float with a canopy to protect Kyleigh from the sun. My fiance and I are in a huge arguement over this situation because I think 3 months old is fine as long as she likes it... am I wrong? Please help

  Re: First Time Mom In Need of Serious Help Reply Contact I think as long as you're taking those mentioned precautions- go for it.  I'm not sure about using sunscreen on teeny tinies, just check with your ped.  Stay out of the sun between 11-4.  & try to find one of those swim suits that's more like clothes.  We just bought DD a 2 piece t-shirt & short set.  SOme of the sets for the younger babies also are more like a wetsuit with a hat with neck canopy.  Oh yeah, if you're buying a life jacket, look for one with a crotch strap since it'll prevent the jacket from riding up around their ears.

LOL   men can be weird like that though. my friend's DH said no way because of all the germs and chlorine and such :(

  Re: First Time Mom In Need of Serious Help Reply Contact  I know this is a little late, but we waited until ours was 3 months before we took her to the pool.  We stayed indoors, so we didn't have to worry about sunscreen, etc.  She loved it, even when water got splashed in her face.  I'd keep the visits short at first, since the chlorine could sting her eyes and irritate her skin, and just gradually build up time in the visits.  Hope she enjoys the pool!
