Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
I am just letting sean take the lead in the potty training. I sit him on the potty and he usually will go. he has this major pooping problem tho and he poops tons and it seems to take half the day so I am not sure how I can potty train him right now? i dont know if his bowel isnt as mature yet as it needs to be or he doesnt have strong enough muscles to get it out? this may be too much info but I am just taking my time. paula

It's going well at MIL's house (she babysits for us). Here's not as great. She's telling us now (usually during dinner) but we're still in pull-ups for the most part. Panties have been a saving grace for us. It seems like she knows that they just make puddles. I have yet to figure out how to handle the driving to the store (since civilization is 40 minutes away).

Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
Kyle has been doing great except for the last few days. He has been having more accidents and it seems to be more with DH and I than anyone else. Most of the time it is when we are playing or doing something that he just doesn't want to stop. He peed on my Mom's couch the other day because he was playing with something and didn't want his cousin to take it while he went to the bathroom, and just last night he was standing in the dining room and just peed on the floor.
I know it goes against all the books, but I started putting him in time out when he pees on the floor because it has been over 6 weeks that we started potty training and he had been accident free for a few weeks and now I don't know if he just wants attention or what, but it is getting frustrating. It may backfire on me, but we will see.

we're doing ok... still quite a few accidents. i was on vacation this past week... so while we were out and about, i just tried to stop at the bathroom every once in a while, and she did great!

you can get one of these http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3132746 ... i keep one in my car and it has saved my butt several times. I don't always use the bags... like at the beach, I'll put it out just in case, or i've pulled over on the side of the road and set it up in the grass. I even used it at the zoo last week (I was not about to go up the huge hill we had just gone up twice!!!).

Lilly had a similiar problem after a month and a half of no accidents... for about a week she was peeing everywhere... i was at my wits end! and just like that, she got back on track. Hopefully this is what Kyle is doing.
anyway, here's an interesting website i found... and two good articles.

Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
We did good today. We were on teh road & she had to go potty at lunch (twice). The funny thing is that she didin't want to use her potty seat attachment thingy b/c it was scary so she didn't pee. But the third time she went just fine with me holding her, lol. THen we had a bbq in the back yard & she was in panties from 5-8:30 when she had an accident.
Thanks for the ideas JenRae. I think I need the car seat pad.

We are doing ok. Still wearing diapers, I have a ton and pull-ups are expensive for just a few. I tried putting panites on her and she threw a FIT!!! I guess she didn't like the feeling of cloth, hehe. Oh well, she does pee in the potty upon waking, before bed/naps, and with every diaper change. I guess I will just have to keep putting the panties on so she gets used to them.

He turned around with only one or two timeouts and has been doing great since. He did pee on my dad the other day at dinner, he was just finishing up a cookie and he wanted to get down, but I wouldn't let him down until he finished chewing and he peed on my dad's lap. He probably was trying to get down to go to the bathroom, but I wouldn't let him. Our only problem now is that he has the bladder of a "hampster" (according to DH) so when we are in the car we have to stop constantly. He are on vacation and had to stop three times in a 2 hour drive. We went to the boardwalk in Ocean City (a 20 minute drive from where we are staying) we had to pull over 2 times and pee on the portable potty on the shoulder of the road. I know that his bladder capacity will increase, but it can be very frustrating.

Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
First of all I'm not the kind of person who usually tells other people how to parent their child! But when I read this today it broke my heart! I also have a child the same age as yours and I couldn't believe it when I read that you were spanking her because she went pee in her pants! It just blows my mind that you even have a "SPANKING SPOON"! I'm under the impression that you were probably spanked as a child and for that reason you think that your behavior is ok...Just let me tell you it's not!!! She is only two and your spanking her for having "accidents" with a SPOON no less!! That is cruel and in my opinion bad parenting! I feel sorry for your children who will sadly probably grow up to BEAT their children also!!

i am the one that posted that and are you even a memeber of this board?
spanking is my choice and i do not beat my child. and i want you to know we are totally potty trained even at night.
i also have a 6 year old and i do not abuse any of my children. i resent your comment. ive been a member of this board since november 2005 and i dont like you jumping me.

Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
Leslie, I'm glad that you have a spanking spoon, hopefully, the kids make the connection faster & it won't have to be used more than once or twice. I'm pretty sure that DD pees on teh floor on purpose some times. I know she can hold it & I know she can stop mid stream, so sometimes I think that it's justified.

Re: how is the potty training going for those doing it?
I wouldn't worry about it leslie3085058. Hope you all remember me and shawn. I don't get on here much any more but i do remember you leslie. well any ways I got shawn potty trained before he even turned 2. He knew the concept of what he was supposed to do so if he went in his pants then I sent him to time out. He will go to the bathroom poop and pee. He will let me know when he has to go. I reward him each time that he goes with love. We only use big boy underwear as well. Everyone has there own ways of teaching there child. That is the way that i tech him. I don't think that any one has a right to tell you what to do unless and i do repeat unless a parent was abusing there child in anyway.

Safiya is doing great! Very few accidents. I try to put her on the potty often--at least every two hours. When she needs to go she just goes. Whenever she goes I give her a big high five and make a big deal of it. Havng a big sister who is already trained helped a lot. I am very proud of her.
