My daughter had hers repaired at 1 year old and her recovery was quick, fairly painless and she never need the speech therapy they told us she might. Good luck to your little one.

That's awesome Alison!!!!!   Definitely keep your speech therapy appointments, if she isn't doing them yet, start them up as soon as you can. PRS babies need that extra little help! Since she is so young,  she will pick things up fast. They will be able to show you different things to do at home that is supposed to help stimulate the jaw growth and work with her on that as well.

    Keep us updated!!!!!

She is sooo cute!!!  Congrats on having the repair over and done with.  Mine was a thumb sucker too and was very mad about the restraints!

Oh Alison!!!!! Avery has gotten so big since the first pictures you showed me! She is beautiful!!! I'm glad she pulled though alright. Did she restart sucking her thumb? Emma used to suck her middle fingers. Ever since her cleft repair, she has sucked on her blankie instead.

Emma is doing well. She had one of her tubes replaced (the right ear) back in June. Her speech has really picked up since then! It's amazing, that even with one working tube that it would have that much of an affect!

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond. Emma will have to have the extraction also. They won't do it until she is at least 18. They want her to be fully grown so that they know exactly how much her jaw will ned to come out. Other wise it will just keep growing and a whole new set of issues will arise!
