I'm so glad Thanksgiving is over! *rant*

I think I had the worst Thanksgiving ever! Ok Thanksgiving itself wasn't bad, it was just the company we had staying at our house. My husbands brother, sister in law and their two boys stayed at our house. They usually do when they come up even though my inlaws live two houses down and have 3 extra bedrooms and we don't have any and all they do is complain about the blow up mattress...but thats another story. Anyhow they showed up on Wednesday and left Friday. Thursday and Friday I might as well have had 4 kids. Their parents didn't do crap for them, they had to come ask me for everything. They would ask their parents and they would just ignore them. It was crazy. Friday morning the kids wanted to go out and play so I got the 3 older kids ready to go out and play. I finished up the dishes and then asked Jen, Doug's sister in law, if she would keep an eye on Madalyn and the kids outside so I could take a quick shower. She said she would. Well I took a fast shower, probably 10 mins. and when I came out I heard Marissa crying. So I try finding her, the boys were in the house by now and Marissa was doing that panic scream at the top of your lungs cry. I finally spot her coat at the front door...the boys had left her outside by herself and she couldn't open the door with her wet gloves. She had to go to the bathroom and couldn't get in so she peed all over herself. Jen was comfy on the couch watching a horror movie! She never even noticed Marissa was missing. She had given Madalyn a cup of goldfish and had her sitting on the couch watching it with her! I took Marissa in to get cleaned up and then came out and told Jen that I didn't want to be a jerk but that movie is not allowed to be played with the kids present in the house! Then last night my inlaws and aunt and uncle came over along with my best friend and her two kids for dinner. We had 12 people here and EVERYONE except my best friend left me with the mess to clean up! My nerves were so shot! I just want to cry and scream at someone!!! I think I need a vacation now!

My goodness.  Your sil sounds very irresponsible to me.  I think I would have had to say more to her.  Sorry your thanksgiving was so bad.

That is awful!  The story about Marissa just breaks my heart!  The poor thing must have been so upset!   I would have been furious!  I hope you said something about her being stuck outside!

I hope you can have some time to just sit down and put your feet up. You deserve some quiet time to yourself.  People never cease to amaze me with their inconsiderations!

I can not believe what you're saying! They sound like the absolute WORST house guests in history. I don't understand how she could have just left Marissa outside screaming and not notice at all, I'm crying for that poor little girl out there all alone and dirty and terrified. Poor baby! Why on EARTH were they staying with you and not with your in laws down the street?? I'm thinking next time that you're going to have to let them know that your house isn't open as a vacation resort. I'm sorry they ruined your holiday. . . sheesh!

Yikes! That's awful. That would be the LAST time I hosted Thanksgiving Dinner (or the IN-LAWS for that matter!) My aunt several foster kids and whenever she visits she sits down and relaxes and we all chase after the kids. On the one hand I like to give her a break but on the other hand it's tiring to host AND watch all the kids in the house.

wow, they certainly wpouldn't be staying with me ever again- regardless of whether I had spare room or not. I can't believe how rude and irresponsible they sound!

I would tell my hubby that they need to stay at his parents house from now on.  I wouldn't put up with that!  I mean, you have your own kids- you don't need to take care of theirs to!  You are not a resort for them to relax and do nothing, they need to grow up.
