    Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

Does anyone know anything about trying to conceive after having PID? My mother in law had it many times in her 20s but not after. She has regular periods and has never been pregnant. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Clear Plan OPK kit?

    TIA

    Re: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

I have had PID many times.......

In England it was once known as a STI but not anymore.......this is because the STI like chlamydia or gonerrhoea and others...let in the bad bacteria......which then in turn...casues PID........

PID is when there is too much bad bacteria verses the good bacteria in the repoductive centre of a woman.....her tubes...ovaries......genital tract....and many more......if left un treated it will continue to come back....and MAY cause infertility..........major pain....eptopic pg and such like......

Unfortunately because the signs feel the same to women that suffer bad period pains........it goes untreated.....and the sufferer will just take pain killers for the pain....when what is needed is a high dose of antibiotics.........

Basically once something or someone enters a woman....and is carrying a bad bacteria...and gets past the cervix.....then the woman has a chance to contract PID......

The test is very simple and doesnt hurt......even if u have a low pain threshold.........If theres is something found they will give u antibiotics.....and hopefully some condoms so that ur partner does not pass it back to u once ur cleared.........It would be a good idea for ur partner to get checked to.......as he could be passing it on to u........

In my case it was my overly cleanl;ness that caused mine after i found out my ex was playing the field........

    I hope this helps......

    more info here:  http://www.cdc.gov/std/PID/STDFact-PID.htm

i've had this twice, once at 16 and once at 21.  i have horrific scarring from it, and it is one of the reasons i have trouble getting/staying pg.

Thanks for your responses! So, I think that my mother in law must have some severe scarring too. she's been trying to conceive for three years without having any luck but she gets her period regularly. as i understand it, menstration doesn't necessarily mean she's ovulating so is it possible that she has scarring on her fallopian tubes that is stopping her from releasing any eggs? if you don't mind me asking, where do you have scarring? is it in the tubes? TIA

    Re: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

Your MIL would need to see her OB/GYN and have an HSG done to see if her tubes are open.  My RE just put me on a high dose of antibiotic just in case of PID.  She was doing an SIS (checking the interior of the uterus) and needed me on an antibiotic for a couple days anyway so just put me on the high dose for 10 days in case.  Also, if your MIL has been trying for 3 years she should try to see an RE.
