I cant believe Im sharing ths name but my son's name is Asher. It means "happy" and "blessed" and Asher was one of the 12 tribes of Isreal from in the Old Testement. His middle name is Samuel and they just go so well together, I think. We have had a few pregnancy losses so the story of Samuel in the Bible was so beautiful to me and how Hannah (his mother) prayed for a child. I have never heard his name before and I kinda hope it stays that way...thats why I cant believe Im sharing! Hope you find one that fits!

Asher is a great name. There is a very good book by Chaim Potok called "My Name Is Asher Lev" about a Hasidic boy. The name is not so common in the general population, though! =)

I went to school with an Asher.  He went by a different name until High School.  I guess he didn't like it until he got older, idk.

    Anyway....

My ideas have already been suggested.  Good luck finding a name.

With your hopes of vowel beginning and Biblical meaning, I would say that Ezra would be my number one choice. Asher (one of the tribal names) is becoming more popular, and it has been growing on me. If you aren't too worried on the vowel beginning, the following are my favorite Biblical boy names (sorry if there are repeats) Luke Levi Caleb Micah Good luck!

Ooh, forgot about this one - it's DH's grandfather's name, but we aren't going to use it for a first name (maybe middle). Gets your vowel in there, but it's not a biblical name. Ansel/Ancel- it's German and means "With Divine Protection" People keep bringing up Caleb - and I love the name too, but not fond of the meaning in Hebrew: dog. On some pages you see "faithful" or "loyal" but I think that's a generous translation. Bummer. Anyway - DH nixed that one for me even without the meaning! =)

I'm having a son in July and wish I could name him Boaz (the kinsman-redeemer in Ruth, in the line of Christ), but my dog is named Bojangles, so it doesn't work for us. Nicholas is another good one - one of the first deacons.

One of my names that I am considering is Malichi or Malik. I don't know what I'm having yet, so I have to be open with names. "Messenger of God" is the meaning of this name. I hope this helps. Other names I am considering are Keanin and Kadin.

I am glad to see someone else considering the name Kadin. We are considering that name also. On the boards here I haven't gotten very good responses to it. My 1st son, who is now 12 yrs old, is Gage. I haven't seen that name on here at all yet.

edward is a strong manly name, or you could try ashton or caleb maybe. or you could find two names u really love and hyphenate them. i have chosen ashton-boyd for a boy or chloe-rene  for a girl.
