What do I do with my milk coming in??? HELP ME!!

I had a D&C on Thursday. I was 14 weeks along. My milk started to come in or let down today... I am taking Mortion took a cool shower ( I have light cramps). I wear tight sports bras. Anything else I should do...? Should I pump??? Would ice work, not sure...? It is just a reminder of my loss it totally sucks!! How do I make it stop or do I need to pump??

Don't pump. That will make your body think you need more. Supposedly Cabbage Leaves are supposed to help. You put one cold leaf on each breast inside your bra. A nusing mother of three gave me the advice. She swears by it. She used it when weaning her 3 children. I did not use the cabbage leaves after the loss of my child because I was too distraut to remember the advice.Yes, it is emotionally devastating to have the milk remind you of the loss of your dear child. Hope this helps.

The Cabbage leaves work.  When we lost our son last year, I used them and my milk dried up in about 4 or 5 days.  I know that this is hard to deal with, espesially since it has to happen right after your loss.  I am sorry for the loss of your baby.  Put the leaves on your breast, then nursing pads, then bind them with a bandage (like you wrap your ankle with)  then put on a very snug sports bra.  Do NOT sleep with out the sports bra, your milk will hit in full force.  Good luck. I hope you find comfort soon.

So sorry for your loss. I had a tight sport bra AND an ACE BANDAGE,wrapped as tight (hard to breathe at first) as I could stand it for about 4 days. No hot showers, I wouldn't pump.

    Hey

I lost my baby at 24 weeks, then I started to produce milk. I had no advise and wasnt on this site at that point so I did nothing, dont pump- as someone said, it just makes it worse. Avoid hot showers, and if you do nothing else, should go in a week or so. Sounds like the cabbage works-Try that. Good luck, and Im sorry for your loss

Binding your breasts tightly or wearing a snug bra at all times should reduce discomfort. Ice packs on your breasts may also help, as the cold reduces swelling. A five-day regimen of vitamin B6 in two-hundred-milligram doses has been shown to reduce engorgement. Relief can occur in about twelve hours. When your breasts are most swollen, you can also try kneeling in a hot bath with your breast suspended in the water. The heat allows the milk to flow out without providing the stimulation that increases milk production. I hope it helps. So sorry for your loss

I have had friends who also got medication (pill for I believe) from the dr. If the leaves don't work, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask dr.

I had a full term lost and it was a nightmare when my milk came in. I hate that I had the body and all of the symptoms of having a baby but had no baby. I took the motrin, wore a tight fitting bra and used the cabbage. With the cabbage it has to be red leaf cabbage and you crush it and put it in your bra. Be careful because it can stain and change out every 2 hours or it will smell. My doctor didn't recommend any medication for it. Sorr for your loss. rhandi
