    Exercise and Workout Diary!

I got the idea for this thread this morning as I was packing my gym clothes.  I was thinking to myself, "should I do weights again, or maybe the eliptical machine, which a lot of pregnant woman in my August group have recommended?"  And that's when I thought of some way to track, motivate, and record what exercises I do.  I thought about just doing it on my computer, like a word document, but here on the site more people can do it too.

So, just write down what workout or exercises you plan on doing today, or what you already did today (or yesterday).

    I'll start:

Today I'm going to go to the gym and do 20 minutes on the eliptical machine, some lunges, crunches, and arm exercises (biceps, triceps, shoulders).  I'm going to go right after work, and it should take me about 30-40 minutes total.

(Diet Side-Note) Also, I'm not going to have McDonalds for dinner (that's what I had last night).  I'm going to cook Sechuan Shrimp over snap peas with a side salad and a BIG glass of milk.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

This is a good idea! Pre pregnancy I used to use a website that tracked all my food and exercise. I found if I put all my meals and exercise in in the morning I stuck to it better! Today is my off day for exercise (Weds and Saturdays are), but I will say I am going to go for a walk with my husband tonight because the weather is beautiful! Yesterday I did 40 minutes on the elliptical and 20 min on stationary bike. Also a few lunges and arm exercises. I try to have one BIG exercise day a week. That was it. Tomorrow I will do the exercise bike for 60 min and some arm exercises. Diet: No fast food and will try not to eat too many of the choclates that oh so conveniently sit on my desk at work. Like maybe just 2 :)

Yes, there are also little chocolates and candies at various desks around my office as well.  I try not to have some every day.  I figure 4-5 a week won't kill me.  ;)

I haven't done the eliptical for a long time.  I've been jogging outside or on the treadmill.  I LOVED the eliptical last night!  It wasn't as 'bouncy' as the treadmill, and it was HARD.  I only did 20 minutes (which was my goal) and I was totally sweating and got my heart rate up (to a safe 140) and really liked it.  (Except for the fact that the one I used was squeaking every time it went around.)

I forgot to do my lunges, but I did everything else I wanted.  Got in a good, quick workout.

I don't know what I plan on doing today...It's not a gym day, but I might got for a walk around the neighborhood with my 2-year-old.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

We did go for a walk last night. I am loving it now that the temp is finally rising here. It was 75 yesterday and beautiful! This morning (I work out in the am because I work from 12-9) I did 40 min on the elliptical instead of the bike. I figure the elliptical is harder so 40 min is the equivalent of 60 on the bike. I had not been doing the elliptical much since I got pregnant either, but I am also loving it. Truthfully I hate the bike, but sometimes I worry my heart rate is getting too high on the elliptical because it is harder. Pre preg I could do like 90 min at pretty hard intervals, but now I am struggling with my 40 minutes at a low pace. I always feel great afterwards though! However I didn't have time to do my weights...maybe tonight.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

Wow, 40 minutes on the eliptical sounds tough to me.  I think I'm going to stick with 20-30 minutes.  Maybe up it to 40-60 after baby is born.

Last night I didn't really do too much.  I just sat on the floor and did a bunch of streches, a TON of little crunches (all different kinds, working all ab muscles), and some arm exercises with some little 2.5 pound weights.  I did the exercises constantly for a half hour while watching tv, just shifting and moving and doing different things.

This weekend I'm going to my parents' house.  I might go for a walk one day, maybe take my son to the beach, probably walk around the mall.  Nothing too extreme, but still active none-the-less.  I just have to watch what food I eat when I'm at their house.  We keep our apartment stocked with healthy foods, my parents just buy what tastes good.  ;)  It's all yummy, but not all good for you.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

Good for you on the ab exercises, I could hardly make myself do crunches pre preg, so I am not even going to attempt to try now! I really do need to do more stretching and strength exercises, but for some reason I like cardio so much more. I never seem to eat too well on the weekends, my husband and I eat out alot on weekends. Today I played some tennis and it kicked my butt! I am so sore now. It wasn't very hardcore, more leisurely I guess, but the different mocements have made me sore all over. I wish I lived by a beach! I am stuck in the midwest :(

This is a great idea to keep each other motivated! I hit the gym this a.m and worked out legs (this use to be my best feature and now they look less leaner, I guess since I had to quit running). So I did 3 sets of 24 reps of lunges with 20 lb dumb bells, 3 sets of 15 leg extensions (60 lbs), 3 sets of 15 seated leg curls (55 lbs), 3 sets of 12 reps outer thigh machine (130 1bs), 3 sets of 20 reps each leg on that butt kick machine (65 lbs), and some calf raises. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes but it was tough after exerting my legs. I finished my 24 oz of water and was thinking I would need to start bringing a gallon size bottle! Came home and had a recovery breakfast of 4 egg whites and 1 whole egg omelet with grits and a little reduced fat cheese. I cannot stop drinking iced tea either! By the way I am 25 weeks pregnant with a 15 lb weight gain.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

I worked out on my eliptical this morning for 43 minutes and when I get home I am planning to do some light arm weights while I watch my shows. However, probably no too much because I am really sore! My husband played tennis both Sat and Sunday. It was the first times we really played this year and my body wasn't used to all the different movements. I am also 25 weeks pregnant (due date 08/07) but sadly I have gained much more than you!

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

Wow, Erica and Elizabeth, great job! :)

I had an ok weekend. Really the only physical things I did was walk around the mall with my mom and son, and I walked up to the pharmacy instead of driving. It's a little less than a mile each way, and it's pretty hilly. So, it wasn't a super physical weekend, no gym or anything, but I didn't sit on my butt the whole time either.

I didn't use the gym today, but I ate a pretty healthy lunch and a super healthy dinner. Tomorrow after work, I'm going to pick up my son from school and take him to the beach. Again, it doesn't compare to going to the gym, but it's better than nothing.

My next Gym Day is going to be Wednesday. I'm going to set a big goal for myself though, I'm going to do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of "other" (abs, stretches, weights, lunges, etc).

    I'm 22 weeks, due Aug 31.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

This post is making me exercise more I think :) However, last night I got off work late and skipped my weights. This morning before work I did 40 min on the elliptical and about 25 mins of weights and lunges. I did two sets of 15 reps of 4 different arm exercises (8 sets), and the same type of thing with my lunges. I drank like a gallon of water afterwards! I have been trying to eat healthy the last two days because this weekend was not so good. My husband is a terrible influence on me and thinks that because I am pregnant I should eat the world and hardly move! He is lucky though and hardly ever gains weight while eating whatever he wants and hardly exercising.

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

OH my husband is the same way! He loves it when I want to eat bad. We usually order or go out to eat on weekends so I know about making up for it and trying to cancel out the extra calories! He was so happy during my 3-4 month period because that was when I was so hungry and I wanted fattening things like gyros and red lobster biscuits! But those days are over (hopefully I won't have anymore cravings!) I did the elliptical for 45 minutes and no weights last night. I had to work late today so I took my break from the gym tonight, I think I ate decently today so I reckon a day off is not that bad, right? I'll hit the gym tomorrow. I know I should at least do some pelvic rocking (baby is breech right now) and stretches but I want to get some sleep....

I did the elliptical for 40 minutes this morning, and may go for a walk with my hubby tonight. Tomorrow I won't have time to work out so I will take the day off. I always work out 5days and take two off, this was my routine even pre preg. I was hungriest in my 3-4 months also. Hopefully that is when I put on the majority of my weight too. I love Red Lobster Biscuits!

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

Um, are we the only ones working out? 5 days a week is amazing, that is usually my routine as well but I have been a bit inconsistent since the pregnancy. My energy shot back FINALLY after the 5 month so its only been the past 6 weeks that I have been strong and steady in the gym again. But I really see that the weight is not coming on and I feel so much better. I just did the elliptical for 35 minutes and since the gym was ridiculus crazy packedI just did 3 different arm excercises (chest flys, biceps curls and some shoulder presses). I figure as long as I do something I won't get flabby!

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

It seems we are the only ones or atleast the only ones who post about it! Yeah, I was definetly doing less at the beginning, just the exercise bike for 40 min or so 3-4 days a week. I have also gotten a lot more energy recently and have tried to increase. I am still gaining steadily, but I think that is just how my body is reacting to pregnancy. I will say that I am doing a good job of keeping it in the middle and my arms and legs are staying fairly tone. I took yesterday off as planned. My husband is going out tonight so I will elliptical (I have one at my house) and do some light weights. I also plan on cleaning while he is out, which can seem like a workout:) I always feel better after I workout!

    Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!

I used to go on this site daily...several times a day. But now I can't at work (been busy with a new job position), and I'm usually too busy (or lazy) to get online once I get home.

My diet hasn't been great lately. But, I still eat better than half the people in my office. :)

Yesterday I had to be at work at 6am for a meeting, but that meant I got off work early. I left the office at 2:30. I went straight to the beach (after changing clothes) and walked a REALLY far distance. When I got home I mapped my route on the USATF website, and found out my walk was just under 7 miles!!! On the sand too, so it was harder and a better workout. It was really nice. Tomorrow, I feel like I need to do something, but not sure what. I have to go grocery shopping, but I bet I can squeeze in 30 minutes on the elliptical after work, before I pick up my son.

Tonight, I'll do some abs. 10 minutes of abs. (if not for this thread, I'd probably just watch TV with a diet Coke. Thanks you two!)
