Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Well... I'm sick today. I have absolutely no appetite, but feel weak and shakey so I know I need to eat. Being sick right now means no gym yet, but for me it also means healthy food and light eating. Hopefully it doesn't last long and I feel better soon.
Yeah, I don't want to get in the habit of eating bad. The whole time during our move, my husband and I kept saying things like, "as soon as we're settled in our new place we HAVE to get back to our healthy lifestyles. Back to healthy eating. Back to exercising regularly." We're ALMOST settled. I just have to build our dresser (ikea) and buy a desk and set up the nursery and put unpack the final boxes.
...about the spacing and formatting: when I'm at my home computer I have to use html codes to do it. At work, it formats for me automatically and I have options to do bold and italics and lists and stuff. There's a bar at the top of the Message window with the options, just like in Word.
For html codes, here are a few basic ones I know: You want to use the angle bracket keys "<" and ">" (shift . and shift ,) I can't type out the codes or it will think I'm using html, so I just have to explain it. Use the , angle bracket then "br" then the . angle bracket. So, it will look like this {br} but with those other keys. That means break, or line break. It will just move to the next line. If you want a space between lines, put two right next to each other like {br}{br}. Instead of a br for a line break, type b for bold or i for italics.
For more simple tricks, google "html codes" :)

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Even though I was sick, I still feel great about yesterday. I ate really well, because I didn't feel like eating crap, and I drank TONS of water. And, when I got home, after picking up my son from school and getting him fed, bathed, and in bed, I decided to build and put together our new 4-drawer dresser from Ikea. Man, that was tough. It took around 2 hours to finish it, and boy was I sweating. That totally counted as a workout!
Tonight I'm going to rearrange the furniture in our bedroom, put away all our clothes in the new dresser, and vacuum the whole apartment.
And tomorrow we're going to pick up a desk we bought on Craigslist, then set up our "home office." I also want to rearrange and set up the kids' room (the kids' room might take two days, Sat and Sun).
And, by the end of the weekend, I want to hang all our pictures and art on the walls, so we will basically be all the way moved in by the end of the weekend!
So, even though I'm not going to the gym much these days, I'm really staying busy and active.

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Oh its amazing you are feeling good, moving is so hard!!!!! Yeah, don't feel bad for one second about not going to the gym as you are staying plenty busy, and eating good again :)
Anyway, I HAD to go to the gym yesterday, worked out legs and did the elliptical yesterday after a co-worker brought me a Strawberry shortcake from a really good Italian bakery since it was going to be my last day at work. This will be interesting to see how my eating changes now that I'll be home. I hope this baby comes before 8/8! I don't have as many projects as you but I am going to organize my closet (this might be very dangerous, lol) and then paint baseboards in some of the rooms (have to get ready for all that company). But that will only take a few days so I might go nuts. I am going to go to the gym but just not push it too hard. Oh, and LOTS of dog walks, she will be so neglected after the baby comes...P.S that html code did not work for me but I am going to google it and see what I am doing wrong ...

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
OK, I am on day 2 of my "lady of leisure" lifestyle, LOL. I stayed plenty busy with errands and I did go to the gym plus walked the dog for a total of almost 1 hour. I lost another pound when I went to the dr. yesterday and I am not sure if I really should be worried. I did read that lots of women lose weight at the end because they feel so full and don't eat as much. But isn't the baby suppose to be gaining almost 1 pound a week??? I am eating but nothing extreme, lots of healthy foods still. I am making lasagna today so that is high calorie but I make it really healthy (ground turkey) and reduced fat cheese, but lots of flavor, fresh basil etc.
My MIL still loves to make fried foods but I just don't LIKE it. I was worried that I would be eating alot of that but luckily don't have the desire.

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
I'm the same way with my cooking! Like, I don't mind splurging on calories sometimes, as long as they're good and healthy calories. Such as from low fat cheeses, ground turkey, etc. And I NEVER fry things. I think there was ONE time a few years ago where I made some fried fish or chicken or something, and it was actually kinda fun, I ended up going in the fridge and frying everything I could get my hands on just to see what it was like. I fried all kinds of veggies and cheeses and stuff. It was fun. My mom never fried food for us growing up, and it was my first time doing it myself as an adult. My husband's grandma fries food like every time we come over!! I think it's a generation thing. I don't know.
I think it's great that you lost a pound. You eat super healthy, baby is getting all the nutrients he needs right now. (I forget, are you having a boy or girl?). Baby will continue to grow even if you lose a pound or two. :) I plan on going back to the gym as soon as this cough goes away. Hopefully on Friday. I really want to lift weights again and do like 15 minutes on the stairs. Nothing too intense, because I've taken a long break and don't want to over-do it or hurt myself or anything.
And we're going to the beach on saturday, so that'll be fun and a workout. And I really really really want to finish unpacking EVERY single box. We have a problem unpacking when we move. There are a few boxes that NEVER get unpacked. Like, when we got married in 2003, we lived in Huntington Beach CA. Then moved to Hawaii on a whim and when we got there we didn't unpack everything because of storage .... lack there of. We moved apartments in Hawaii once. And eventually moved back to California, in San Diego. We just moved to our new apartment in San Diego and I found two boxes that have been packed since HUNTINGTON BEACH! These two boxes have been moved from one apartment to another, over seas and back. They've been opened, and a few things taken out, a few more things added. But they're basically just random junk that I can't part with. Those are the type of boxes that we have to unpack. I think we have about 5 more boxes and a duffle bag and we're completely DONE!

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
I'm Going To The Gym Today! It's been like a MONTH and I feel so blah. I can't wait! I know I should take it easy and all: considering the facts that I'm having this baby 3 weeks from today, I haven't been in a month, and I'm still kinda getting over my cold....but I'm REALLY motivated to get in a good workout.
I'll probably be the only one in the gym (small office gym downstairs at my work). So, I'll keep my cell phone close in case I do need to call for help or whatever. I am sure I'll be fine.....but you never know. Better to have it handy, just in case.
I unpacked like SIX boxes last night......yeah, I TOTALLY underestimated the amount of unpacking we have to do. After those 6 last night, there are still like 5 more. It's like they multiply when I leave home for work. I get home and the amount to do has doubled!!! ;-)
And, my work threw me a surprise shower yesterday, so I had to put away like a dozen gift bags of new baby stuff. That was totally fun. :)
How often do you weight yourself? I used to daily, now I'm more like once every 7-10 days. I want to know my current weight, but I'm totally scared to look.

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Oh I completley understand that desire to go to the gym. Somedays it doesn't matter but all of a sudden you get overcome by "I MUST GO" !!!
You have been sooooo busy, moving is such a never ending ordeal. It has always taken me at least 3 months to get everything settled in its proper place. I would normally say take it easy but then you have to take advantage of your energy when you can. I normally try to weigh myself once a week but since I have been home this week I have been weighing myself every day, I am scared I am going to pile on the pounds!! Its like you know you have to gain some weight for the baby but you worry if you are putting on too much. I am just trying to eat healthy so if I do gain, at least it is from nutrious things. I have a feeling I will go past my due date of 8/8.....Everyone says I have not dropped and I guess with the small weight gain I don't look ready...

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
I lost a pound! :) I went to the gym on Friday, only for about 30 minutes, but it was nice. Not TOO much. And I had an active weekend (as usual).
Wow, you're due on Friday!!!! There's no way you can "pack on the pounds" in 5 days. That's like impossible. ;)
Aren't you excited to give birth and lose like 10-15 pounds in one day! I'm really excited for that.
I eat healthy to keep my weight under control, but also to keep the baby well-nourished with all the tons of vitamins and stuff he needs. I splurge on things (almost daily) to keep my mental sanity within normal limits. :) I bought this honey-nut low fat cream cheese spread. It's super yummy and sweet and I put it on a mini whole wheat bagel. It's small, so portion controlled. And sweet, so it helps with my never-sending sweet tooth these days. And I feel totally healthy eating it because it's whole wheat and low fat. :)

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Oh my gosh, you lost weight after missing out on the gym during that whole moving ordeal! So all that packing and assembling furniture paid off! I just got back from my doctor appt. and I have stayed at the same weight. Yay! And I have started some contracting, I am 1 cm and almost completly thinned out so we expect the baby this week. I lost my mucus plug this morning after walking the dog for 30 minutes. I went to the gym afterwards and now have been feeling crampy every 10-20 minutes! I will go walking again today but the cramps really hurt, it makes me want to hunch forward and hold my stomach! i am scared about the real deal since this is just the very early phase....Ok, maybe tonight I will splurge and make a cake or something for the impending birthday!!!!

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Oh, how exciting! Your baby is coming!! :) You should totally make a cake!!
I wish I had a dog to walk. I love dogs, but I live in an apartment, and they don't allow pets. We have two guppies in a 1.5 gallon Finding Nemo fish tank. Not quite as exciting or active as a dog. :-/
That's great you stayed the same weight.....now that I think about it, I don't even remember them weighing me at my last doctor's appointment. I'm sure they did, I just don't remember. Hm. I am going to try to eat really healthy for the next two weeks, but during the last couple days (where you are at now) I'm TOTALLY splurging! I want to go out to restaurants, and eat dessert, and order pizza, and get McDonald's Egg McMuffins for breakfast. I just know that I am going to be TOTALLY motivated after the baby comes to get back in shape and totally diet and exercise, that I want to have 2 or 3 days of "treats" before he comes. :)

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
Man, I did not know I was in labor that day!!! I had Isabella on the 5th. I did make her a cake while I was in labor that night trying to take my mind of the pain! I was so starving after I had her because it had been over 17 hours that I got to eat so I did have DH bring me a piece of that cake!!! I have been breast feeding and my stomach is shrinking already. Its funny because between the sleep deprivation and just constantly feeding and soothing the baby I am not even thinking about eating. I am still craving yogurts though! Good plan on the eating out the last few weeks, I said the same thing but was so afraid I was going to get huge! I bet you will do the same thing since you have not gained much either! I did not weigh myself yet but hopefully I will get to a scale within a week. Oh and the baby was only 5 lbs and 15oz, 19 inches long!

Aw, congratulations Elizabeth!! Welcome Isabella!!! I haven't been online in a while, and so I fell kinda behind on all the babies and updates. That's so funny you made a cake while you were in labor. :) You definitely deserved that cake!
How was the labor and delivery? I hope everything went fine. Sounds like you're doing well. Congratulations again!
Take your time getting on that scale. There's no real rush. :) I've been getting on the scale every couple of days. My weight is just about the same. Still at a 22 pound weight gain. Even my doctor last Thursday said my weight was the same. I go in again this Thursday. I've completely stopped going to the gym, and I've been eating kinda crappy, but I've been so busy and working so much around the house that I don't feel guilty for eating not-so-great stuff.
Oh, and I found out there's a lake near my new apartment. It's great, I felt like I wasn't even in San Diego any more. You'd have no idea there was a big city within a few miles of you, and it's about 8 miles around (so I've heard) and it's really pretty. So, I think I'm going to start going there once I'm on maternity leave. Walk/jog around it a couple times a week. It's so relaxing and peaceful, and right in my back yard. ....We don't get to see much "nature" around here, so it's a real nice surprise to find a LAKE.....well, technically it's a reservoir, but whatever, same thing. :)
Can't wait to hear more about Isabella and delivery and your new life with baby. :)

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
I think I lost a pound...maybe even 2! I'm eating crap though! Two cupcakes yesterday (but to justify it, they were the small, homemade kind, so, comparable to one store bought one). I guess I'm not eating THAT bad. Besides the cupcakes, I ate really well yesterday. All healthy stuff.
Anyways, I was just checking in to see if you've been able to post yet. I hope you and baby are doing well!
I've got exactly 8 days and counting. Actually, 8 days to the minute. It's 7:30 right now, and that's my surgery appointment time. There is SO much to do before then!!!!!! I'm kinda flipping out. Kinda.

Re: Exercise and Workout Diary!
that is great you are not gaining! I weighed myself at the baby's 1 week appointment and I only have 5 pounds to lose till I get back to my pre-preg weight. I was sooooo happy. I think the breast feeding is really helping. Are you going to bf? I have been taking the baby on stroller walks for 30 minutes and have done various crunches but thats as much exercise I am getting. My doctors said I cannot lift weights for 6 weeks because of bleeding but i plan on starting the elliptical this week. it is just so hard to schedule things since everything is revolved around feeding the baby! things have been really good though, she sleeps alot and is eating plenty. are u having anyone coming to stay with you to help with the baby? my parents have been here and so is my mil so i am getting to take my shower and have some down time to relax.
