Raspberry Leaf Tea does it work?

ok, so I have read plenty forums and i still don't know if it works or how long to take it or how much or how soon after. has any one tried drinking the tea to go into labor? I'm near the end and i'm just curious as to what i should try, i don't want to be induced because i heard that it's more painful. I'm really scared to try castor oil and the black cohosh or whatever it's called. so to all you Expert Mommies, can any one share with me what you did to go into labor early? (walking makes my lower back hurt even more, and sex is just uncomfortable) thanks!, First time mommy

here's what i've learned. . . believe me, in the past, i've tried EVERYTHING. . . red raspberry isn't supposed to put you into labor, it's supposed to help tone your cervix and uterus to make labor more productive. . . i took it with both pregnancies, and honestly i think it was probably a waste of $$. i drank it and also took it in pill form. with my son, i took castor oil. . .(i was already 2 cm and 80% effaced though) and it did put me in to labor, but it was AWFUL. . .i had major cramping and diarrhea with it. . . from what i've learned, it won't even work unless you're very close to going into labor already and your body is doing stuff already. . . i really don't recommend it. . . i probably tried every wives tale in the book when i was pregnant with my daugher- eggplant parmesan, pineapple, red raspberry, castor oil, sex, walking, exercise, you name it, i tried it. . .guess what. none of it worked. she came out when she was good and ready, right on her due date. ;-) good luck though! it'll be over before you know it!!

I started taking drinking this tea early on ...maybe the beginning of my third trimester. My son was 3 weeks early. I think it is supposed to prepare your uterus..raspberry leaf is common in pregnancy tea and PMS tea...i am not sure if it sped anything up as far as early labor ...i think it was having sex that helped move things along.. try it ! :) My water broke 2 days after intercourse with my son...but who really knows?

If you do not want to be induced, then refuse induction, unless the Dr. can give you a truely valid medical reason-like fetal distress, or blood pressure concerns.  Being past your due date is not a medical erason, unless you go past 42 weeks.  Also, a big baby is not a medical concern.  So, just refuse if you don't want it.  I agree with the rpevious poster that the little one will come out when they are ready-and that your baby and your body know when and what is best (barring medical necessities).  This is ultimately your choice, and natural remedies don't always work, it is up to you to decide how firm you are in not wanting an induction.

Just curious, you say "go into labor early"...is there a particular reason you want to go into labor early?

when i say early i mean at 40 weeks, i'm a small frame and my family has a tendency to go into 43 weeks and still not deliver. the dr said that if the baby it's born naturally by my due date that she suggest we induce, because of the lack of room for the baby and the size of the baby. i've only gained 20 lbs and i'm 38 weeks. i weigh a total of 144 but it's mostly just stomach and bobbs. i'm barely 5 feet tall. my husband says i look like i should work in charlie's chocolate factory! thanks to all who posted.
