    names of the week 7/14-7/20

Zinnia (English) From the name of the flower, which was itself named for the German botanist Johann Zinn

Tristan (celtic)From the Celtic name Drystan, which was probably derived from drest meaning "riot" or "tumult". The spelling has been altered by association with Latin tristis "sad". In Celtic legend Tristan was sent to Ireland in order to fetch Isolde, who was to be the bride of King Mark of Cornwall. Instead, Tristan and Isolde end up falling in love. Their tragic story was very popular in the Middle Ages, and the name has occasionally been used since that time.

I like the girls name but not the boys name.  Might be because I knew a girl named Trista so it is more feminine to me.

I love the name Tristan... but always knew about the story of Tristan and Isolde, so never thought about it being girly. The male character in the book/movie Stardust is named Tristan.
