wanted to pass on this helpful info....

A fellow member shared this information with me in a post on the VBAC community group site. I hope it helps you ladies too.

Hello ladies, I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.  I am a birth doula in Illinois (and also a member of the May '09 Birth Board) and wanted to let you know that most doulas are more then happy to work something out if $$ is tight ( a discount, payment plan, bartering, etc.)  Many doula-in-training will do births for free or severley reduced rates.  I know that doulas with DONA aren't listed on the web page until they are certified but you can call (888) 788-DONA (3662) to find doulas-in-training in your area.  Also, I would check out Operation Special Delivery at their website, http://www.operationspecialdelivery.com/ if you are a military wife.  They provide doulas for mom's whose husbands may be deployed during their baby's birth.

    Best of luck!
