Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
Sorry you have to be on bedrest so long! 7 weeks seemed long to me and I didn't have any problems till I was 27 weeks. Good luck with the steroids. 24 weeks is considered the lower limit of viability. So they should help and just keep that little one baking! 28 weeks is a huge deal, praying you get there next.

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
Hello ladies - I was put on bed rest a little over a week ago - I am now at Wk 25, counting the days to the magic Wk 28! I've read through your blog and i feel some relief that there are others out there who know exactly what it feels like to go through the same thing! I had been taking weekly progesterone shots and at my last high-risk appointment, the doc noted my internal os was opening and it had thinned from 4 to 1.5 with contractions. They admitted me to the hospital and gave me procardia and steroids for the baby's lungs. I'm so glad the procardia worked!!! it stopped the contractions and I was discharged with 2.7. Now i'm on bed rest for 9 more weeks and take procardia at home q 6H.
We had been seeing the high-risk specialist because we lost our first baby a year ago completely out of left field, at Wk 23. It took me months to stop crying every day and even now it's really difficult, esp. when I hear babies cry, but I'll save that for another blog. The scare last weekend with this pregnancy had us completely unravelled and we are just so glad and relieved that they were able to stop the contractions in time. I'm happily taking on this bed rest and i'm trying my darndest to keep busy from my bed. Or the couch.
Now, if only i could poop - bed rest has made everything come to a screaching halt. Is this a problem for anyone? Hang in there!!

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
Thanks, i'll try that. Are you allowed to sit up for meals and get up for bathroom breaks? I've been ok'd to do that, half of me feels guilty when i do and the other half really likes to chug water so i can get up for a couple minutes. How strict is your rest?

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
I can only get up for the bathroom...they ok'd me to sit while eatin but I don't I stay horizontal at all times. and my boyfriend washes me in the shower for no more than 10 mins. he bought a chair for the elderly tha I sit it until its time to rinse off. we r jus overly cautious. I also keep my feet higher than my head. it jus takes off any extra pressure off the pelvic area. just had a appt with my high risk today. my baby is 2lbs 6oz and breech and my stitch is still stable at 1.6cm.

I'm also so glad to hear you're both doing ok! and that you have a good support group at home. Every ounce and every day makes a big difference. I've been passing the time on the internet or reading or watching TV. The first few days were more difficult, now, I seem to be cruising through the day(...well, almost). Today, I was researching strollers and car seats. Not easy to do if you can't see them for yourself. They all seem to make baby hot and sweaty. I just bought myself a Hooter Hider ;-) I should give one to one of my sister-in-laws. She doesn't cover up and likes to surprise us at the dinner table.

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
I really like that color combination!!! It's a boy?! We're having a boy too. I don't go back to the ob until a week from Friday for an u/s then the following Monday for glucose testing. It seems like such a long wait till then. So far, i feel fine, but i can't help but feel nervous of what's going on in there that i can't feel. They keep saying to pay attention to any symptoms I feel and that I'll know. Still. Everytime i sneeze or cough, i try to make sure I do it while sitting. I know it must sound silly to the average person and my ob has assured me no one has ever sneezed out their kid. I'm going to 360 on you - keeps me sane. There's some postings on this site about picking names that were making me laugh earlier. Like, someone really wants to name their kid some bizzare name like Jezariah and no one else likes it and everyone posting gangs up on the mom. Quite entertaining. Do you have a name picked out yet?

yes I'm having a boy. I'm so happy I always wanted one boy and tha was it. and I got it he's jus givin me a hard time lol. he will be named Jailen Juan Smith. I saw the post earlier some of the women on here can b quite nasty that's why I just stick to the high risk area. Do u feel your baby move frequently? and don't feel alone I always thought if I laughed or sneezed I would rip my stitch lol.

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
HA! These little guys have already earned themselves a big time out for putting us on bed rest!!!! One more thing off your list - you're ready with his name! We're having the hardest time agreeing on one. My only criteria is that the first name must sound good in English and in Spanish (my family's Spanish and i want both sides to be able to pronounce it without majorly butchering it) so that should narrow it down, but it doesn't! This little guy moves all the time - in all directions, at the same time - how is that possible?! And all hours of the night. The outside of my stomach visibly bounces! Is that the same for you? During one of the u/s, we saw him give us a big yawn and stuck his thumb right in his mouth! Got it on 3D. It was the single most cutest thing I've ever seen! I really can talk without exclamation points, I just get so excited when i think about him.

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
yes it was easy for me with the name bcuz I said I wanted to name it if it were a boy n my boyfriend wanted to name it if it were a grl. so I won. lol yes it looks like he's tap dancing inside me. but he seems to love my left side he's always on tha side. thas so funny u said tha bcuz at our 24 wk sono he was tryin to put his fingers in his mouth but kept missin n then finally he got his thumb in there n my doc was able to catch it. I actually have it as my default pic on myspace. question how much weight have u gained so far. also have u had a lose of appetite since u been on bedrest

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
Hi I'm Lisa and I have no real right in messaging as I am nt on bed rest yet ( only 8 wks prego for me) I just wanted to say how after reading your messages it gives me hope that I will have the suport I need when my time comes. I am 38 and was trying for 5 1/2 years to get pg. After 3 failed fertility treatments didn't ever think I would conceive, but I have, and amazingly on our own!! I have a bicornuate uterus ( basically it's 2 small joined uterus instead of one) They told me the usual treatment is cerclarge followed by bed rest. Obviously it depends on me when this all gets put into place. They are keeping a close eye on me, u/s every 10 -14 days. MY first goal is 24 wks and that seems forever away. Just glad to know there will be others in the same boat as me to support and while away the hours with. Good luck to you all. Lisa

Re: Put on bed rest at 23w......
HI LISA - congrats on being pg!!!! My sister's friend also has a bicornate uterus and she has the cutest 2 kids. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! We'll be here if you need us.
Hi SASSETTE - I was about to ask you the same thing. At the hospital at wk 24, i know i lost a couple lbs, i assumed it was water weight from not eating solid food for 4 days, but then at my appt a couple days ago at 25 wks, i had only gained 4 lbs total. Even in just a week and half of bed rest, my arms, legs, butt have lost muscle tone. My arm was in a cast earlier this year and it was the same thing. Over a few days, the part of my arm that was not in a cast was significantly smaller from lack of use. A little concerned about what this will mean when it's time to push out an 8lb baby. I have almost completely lost my appetite - i'm hardly ever hungry and only eat b/c i know the baby needs to eat - trust me, it's not like me at all not to eat or be hungry. I love to eat and I love food. I'm sure it's from not being up and around and using energy. I think as long as the baby's growing, it's ok not to gain too much weight. Are you finding the same thing? have you asked your doc about it?
