    HypnoBirthing?

Hi all! I am currently pregnant with my second daughter and would really like to be able to do this birth medication free. I am hiring a doula to help out with that and will definately be doing some reading on other natral techniques, but I would also like to look into HypnoBirthing. They offer a class at the hospital I am going to, but to be honest with you, I cannot really afford to take the class. So to make up for not being able to take the class I wanted to buy a book or two on the subject so that I can educate myself. Are there any good books that I could look for on this topic?

I also wanted to know, if you have tried HypnoBirthing, did it work for you?

    Thanks,

    Nikki

I am currently pregnant with my third and am wanting to try HypnoBirthing this time as well.  Unfortunately there is no class close by but I am reading the book HypnoBirthing:  The Mongan Method (3rd Edition) by Marie F. Mongan and it came with a CD that has Relaxation and Birth Rehearsal Imagery on it.  I am really enjoying it and am also interested to hear and other's experiences.  I am only 9 weeks pregnant so I have a long time to prepare Stick out tongue

    Re: HypnoBirthing?

I used HypnoBirthing with my second pregnancy, and there were no classes nearby at that time, either.  I ordered the book and CD.  I also read Unassisted Childbirth by Laura Shanley, and though it was not directed toward hypnosis, it helped set my mind that birth is completely natural and doesn't need to feel painful.  I was able to have a painless birth with my fourth baby using the combined philosophies.  Best of luck to you on your birth!

I am due with my 2nd baby in December, and just finished my first hypnobirthing class. It was amazing. I had already read the 2nd addition "Mongan Method" book, so I new what to expect, but it was great to have it all explained to my husband as well. Now he is totally on board and excited for our beautiful birth experience. If there are classes near you, I would definitely take them...they are wonderful!

I'm due with my second at the end of december and in the middle of the class. I am feel very optimistic! For those who just bought the book I would recommend getting the other CD that does not come with the book. It includes the Rainbow Relaxation and Birthing Affirmations! Good luck to you all!

    Re: HypnoBirthing?

I as well want to do Hypnobirthing, I am looking into all of it. They offer classes here but I would rather watch the DVD and the book the Library has then pay 375.00 for the class or  60 bucks for the book and DVD to own. I look forward to watching the DVD they play at the classes and to read the book.

Hypnobirthing seems right down my alley. I want to do the mind over matter and breathe through the pain , no meds this time, and relax. It just seems right for me.

I would check and see if your local library has the book, it make take a little searching, but my library offers acess to the whole states library database including univerisites, So My library didnt have it, but I found a Library in Denver that did and ordered the book for check out where I live.

I looked up the hypnobirthing website, and they say if you cannot make it to classes you can buy the dvd and book online.. its a fraction of the cost of the class and you learn the same stuff.. I am a frugal one so I went the public library way instead, its FREE for me :) unless I am late returning it then it will cost me .25 per day afterwards until I return it..lol

    Good Luck
