Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
hi. i just found out that in the last week, my progesterone dropped from 21.5 down to 16. I am starting supplements tomorrow. I had two relatively normal pregnancies (although they were both conceived on the pill). Then in the last year, my new DH and I have had 3 MCs. We did not have any tests done with any of them, so we never found out the cause. I was just doing some research, and it looks like there is a big controversy over this progesterone thing. (I've also had 2 doctors on opposite sides of the controversy). So what I was just reading was the opinion that low progesterone does not cause a miscarriage, but is in fact, a symptom of a pregnancy going bad, therefore supplements are not going to help. I'm putting my faith into the other side of the arguement and am going to take my supplements and pray that this one sticks. My hcg is doing great, so we'll see what happens. I will keep you in my prayers and hope that the supplements keep our babies in there!

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
Hi, I have a hx of having lower progesterone levels pre pg, thus making it harder to get pg, My first pg I had to problems with this, I conceived last november, and it ended in a miscarraige at about 8-9 weeks. So when I became pg again this May dr. did not check my levels, but said it wouldn't hurt to take the prometrium unil 12 weeks, so I did, I just did not want to go thru with another loss, and so far so good. It's possible that my loss had nothing to due with this, but I didn't want to take any chances. Good luck.

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
Hi, I just found out on friday that I am also suffering from low progesterone levels. Tested on wednesday at 6 weeks at 10.4. This is all very scary as have been trying for 5 1/2 years to get pregnant (our first time conceiving). I was already high risk at 38 with biconuate uterus. Since getting pregnant have also found out that I have an auto-immune disease going on and have to take baby asprin every day. Don't know what else they can throw at me, but trying to stay positive. Keep telling myself that untill I actually start to miscarry there is still a chance. My ob put me on 200mg progesterone suppositoy. Is yours a oral pill or a suppository? Good luck I hope everything works out.

I just found out that my progesterone is 7.9 at 7w 2d. I have been put on 400mg prometrium twice daily. This is kind of a hail mary as my cervix is already softening, and dilated 1/2-1cm.

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
I had a scan yesterday, and it looks like everything is okay. Baby is measuring exactly where he/she should be, and my cervical length looks fine per ultrasound. The perinatologist told me that everything actually looks pretty good. I'm trying to relax and let my pregnancy progress, but it is difficult. They informed me that once they get an embryo who is measuring where they should be, and there is cardiac activity (156 bpm), there is less than a 5% chance of miscarriage.

I had a follow-up exam yesterday, and they found no more irritation on my cervix, and my cervix is actually pretty firm now! I'm too excited. And, it looks like the progesterone is working.

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
Tracy,
this happened to me also. My levels were also at 13.9 within the 7-9 week range. My dr put me on the progesterone supplements until I was 13 weeks and then at 16 weeks started the progesterone shots. I take these weekly and so far things are working really well. I was on bedrest from week 14-17. I'm still on modified rest but get to go to work and do everything in moderation except for sex or any kind of stimulation (which sucks for my husband:( ). I'm just now feeling like everything is going to be okay. I allowed myself to buy some baby clothes. We know it's a boy. I found out at 12 weeks that it's a little man (number two for us). I get an ultrasound to check my cervix at every dr appointment and I'm seen every two weeks. It makes me feel so much better to know that they're keeping a good eye on me. Hopefully your dr will be as careful! Good luck! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
I just had my progesterone re-checked today as my docs were going to discontinue my prometrium. I'm 13w 2days, and I stopped taking prometrium on Friday (3 days ago). My progesterone level came back at 20.5, and the midwife told me that they wanted it to be at least 30, preferably 35. I've had a perinatologist consulting, but my midwife has been primary, and I'm seriously debating on changing to an OB because I'm now starting to freak out. I have a doppler at home and listen to the baby every day, but I think I would like a higher level of care. Has anyone had progesterone problems into the second trimester?

Re: ANY ONE W/ LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS DURING 1ST TRIMESTER(ON PROMETRIUM)???
I am also 13w. & 3 days and my Dr. had instructed me to stop the Prometrium on Friday. I had no problems during the weekend however Monday I started spotting but it was pink so I wasn't really worried but like I have been told to do I called my ob's nurse to let her know, mind you I have spotted on and off this whole time, and she told me to come in for an u/s. The u/s showed my perfect little baby, which we think is a girl, with no signs of why I would be spotting. They checked my progesterone level yesterday and I had to wait until today to get the results. This morning I woke up and went to the bathroom for the 4th time during the night and noticed there was bright red blood, not pink this time. I freaked out and called the ob nurse this morning and she said that my levels were low again, 11.8 which seems extremely low to me but she didnt sound too concerned, and that they wanted to start me on the pills again immediately. My Dr. is out of town until the 5th however another ob in her office looked over my results and my chart and said the best thing to do until then would be to restart the medication and check my levels more frequently. Hopefully this will work.
