    22 weeks, 1 cm dilated

Hello, I am new to this forum. I am 22 weeks and my doctor just confirmed that I am 1 cm dilated. I have been on progesterone shots for about a month now, so I do not understand why I am having complications. The doc mentioned that in two weeks I would get a Fetal Fibronectin and talked about the possibility of a cerclage. I'm scared...does anyone have advice? Is bed rest mandatory, I have a preschooler...so I kinda can't be in bed all the time.

I know pelvic rest would probably be required (no tampons, douching or intercourse). I would recommend in the meantime to stay very well hydrated, take it easy with lifting and if you feel any contractions, stop what you are doing and rest. The FFN is a fairly reliable indicator of whether or not this dilation means anything. If it is positive, then you have around a 50% chance of going into labor in the next 10-14 days, but if it is negative, there is virtually no chance of labor following for that same amount of time. I found out that my cervix is 1/2 to 1cm dilated at 8 weeks, but I am internally closed. Unfortunately, all that can be done is "watchful waiting." I will be thinking about you!
