I am 38. WOW!!! Reading your post was like reading my own experience. I know exactly how you felt. My husband and I will now be outnumbered with three children. How soon can an amio be done. I am very early on.

yeah, I think a few of us were "surprised"; I'm 37 & I am going to have 3 girls now with this "baby-boo" on the way. I had my amnio when I was 16 weeks. WELCOME!

Hello, My name is Rochell and I will be 38 in September. My due date is 1/10/10. This will be my third child. I have two sons, 16 and 10. This pregnancy came as a total surprise. I was pissssssssssssed in the beginning, but as time went on and goes on I get more excited as the days passes. My husband, the kids, family and I can't wait for our bundle of joy in the New Year. We are hoping for a little girl, but we will be happy with whatever God blesses us with.

Leslie, I'm sure you've had your baby boy by now. My friend just told me about this site last night so I signed up. I'm 36 and trying to get pregnant with my first baby. Any advice on being pregnant over 35?

Hi there. I'm 35, just had my 3rd 2 months ago. I was 21 when I had my first. I was very conscious of my body being older so I still went to gym well up to my 20th week (not mu full normal work out) . It's been a while so I might not remember that well, but I would say that my body bounced back as quickly as it did back then. The biggest difference was mentally. I do the whole home birth thing so I went with a midwife all through my pregnancy. I had 1 scan and as it turns out that scan was wrong on the dates because my little guy was so big. Towards the end of the pregnancy I was an emotional wreck. Because I'm that much older, I've read a lot more and am a lot more aware. (I was aware of how the baby was lying for instance and I didn't really know before.) So when the time came near and things weren't happening it really freaked me out. I knew the baby was big and I knew I should be early so I was expecting to deliver before my EDD. As it turns out I delivered 4 days after the scan EDD but the mdwf says there was so much vernix he must have 37/38 weeks. When I was speaking with my midwife after she said because I was older I had a greater expectation of perfection.

So my advice - allow things to be what they are going to be. Yes, be informed but allow for the unpredictable. And if you get it right. Tell me how.

I'm 42 and pregnant with my first. I, too, was very pleasantly surprised. Overjoyed really. DH and I had been trying for years.....all through my 30s....went the fertility dr. route and all with no luck. I concluded that it just wasn't going to happen for me. BUT, as the saying goes, it ain't over til it's over. This pregnancy happened naturally and we are on cloud 9. I'm due Nov. 28 and baby shows every sign of being perfectly healthy.

Wow, I realy thought i was alone out here..... every message board seemed to be a bunch of 20 somethings talking. I felt like a Granny. I'm 37 this last march and am bue to have my 3rd child in May. My other children are 20 and 16. We tryed a few years ago to get pregnant and It just never happened. I went to my regular doctor and he sugested that I take prenatal vitamins because my B levels and Folic levels were realy low for my age.... I took them for 3 months and also happened to start temping about that time. We got pregnant on our 3rd month..... We are very excited. We had our pre screening and everything came back normal.
