    found a problem on u/s....:(

When we had the 18 week u/s, the dr saw something abnormal and sent me to have a level 2 u/s. The sonographer found what seems to be an abnormality in one of the baby's kidneys. They cannot tell if it is a cyst, or an obstruction or a development problem. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What was the outcome?

I haven't had that happen. But my 24 weeks twins both have kidney problems from a combination of being premature and from the meds they were given for their PDAs. They both went in to renal failure and we weren't sure if they were going to survive. They are still in the NICU and are followed by a nephrologist. Vincent's bladder refluxes into his kidneys and he has some calcium buildup. Gabriel also has some calcium buildup but his kidneys don't filter as well as they should. Neither of their kidneys fully function. Their nephrologist told us that their kidneys only need to function at 40% for them to be able filter enough out and for the boys to be healthy. They will both continue to see the nephrologist at least for the next several years. I hope everything works out for you.
