    Low progesterone levels

Hello. I'm currently 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I lost my first baby due to very low progesterone levels. For this pregnancy my dr. has put me on progesterone vaginal suppositories. I take one in the morning and one in the evening. They are keeping a very close eye on my levels as far as this and beta levels. I'm very nervous!!!! Losing my baby the first time was the most tramatic event in my life. Anyone ever have this problem? Did you feel nervous during your next pregnancy? I'm losing my mind here, very nervous! I wish you all healthy pregnancies! Take care of yourselves!

YES! It took three losses to get me on Progesterone... (oral) I needed up with a healthy little one. 2m/s (yes total of 5 m/c) and now pregos again and taking progesterone. 10 weeks still taking it, I have a heart beat. Each pregnancy is different. I go back on Thursday to see what is going on along with blood tests and all the jazz... It sucks !!!! Relax and we all are thinking about you!!!

I started spotting when I was 7 weeks pregnant, and they ran all of my labs (progesterone and hcg). My Hcg was through the roof (something like 50,000), but my progesterone was only 7.4. I was put on a pretty aggressive dosage of prometrium (400mg twice daily...the usual dosage is 100-200mg once a day). At 13 weeks, I stopped prometrium for 3 days and had my level re-checked, and it was only 20.5, and they wanted it to be around 35. So, I stopped taking prometrium at about 22 weeks, and all is looking fine so far. I'm currently 26 weeks 5 days, and everything looks good. I was told that I would probably miscarry with a progesterone level of 7.4, but I didn't (Thank God!) Having suffered a miscarriage last year, I don't think I could have handled it. I'm glad your doctors are keeping an eye on it, and just take it one day at a time. I'll be thinking about you and I wish you the best!

I suffered a loss in December 2008. I was 5 months and my baby's heart stopped beating... when I was 18 i was told that my progestrone level was low but my doctors didn't find anything wrong with my last pregnancy... I wonder if they checked for that. I would have never known to even ask if that could be an issue... I was given steroids and birth control back then to help raise my levels. I am now 6 weeks 2 days prego and want to make sure everything goes well... I am like you and am very nervous. I haven't even told my parents about this one because I had everyones hopes up during my last pregnancy and to this day (its been 4 months) and people are still asking me how the baby is doing. I dont want to go through that again. so Im going to be reactive and find out if that could have caused my fetal demise.

    Re: Low progesterone levels

     Hi,

This is my first post on the board.  I'm 5 wks 3 days pregnant and on 100mg of Prometrium 3x per day (oral).  I've taking this in previous pregnancies for the same issue of low progesterone.  Normally a woman's ovaries should produce sufficient amount of progesterone hormone to sustain the pregancny for the first trimester.  After the first trimester the placenta takes over with production of the hormone.  Well with my first pregnancy I had no idea I had low progesterone.  Everything was fine and then I miscarried at 15 wks.  Before my next pregnancy I did research on causes of miscarriage and learned low progesterone was one cause.  So when I got pregnant again, I asked the OB to test for it and sure enough it was low.  I was confident that the second pregnancy was going to be fine since I figured out what probably caused me to miscarry.  Well around 14 weeks my OB said to stop the progesterone cold turkey.  As soon as I did that, I started bleeding and having complications.  I'm unsure if it was related to stopping the medication or not but at 15 weeks I miscarried again.  With my third pregnancy, I took the progesterone (oral) again and then when I was past the 1st trimester the Perinatologist weaned me off the medication rather than abruptly stopping it.  I had bleeding and spotting throughout the first 4-5 months but thank God I gave birth to a healthy baby boy (8lb 15oz).  The key is to wean yourself off of the hormones when the doctor feels your body is ready.  It makes sense because that stopping to take that high amt of hormone in our body could cause complete shock.  So I thought I'd share my experiences to maybe help others.

    Hoping for the best!

Hi I am 7 weeks and 3 days. I had my U/S. fetal heart rate only 96 bmp, estadiol from 555 down to 300, Progesterone from 17 down 15, hcg 5500 to 6000. The sac has irregular shape. Doctor is very worry. Have you experience the same problem? I am so worry as this is my first pregnancy.
