Well it seems like your cerclage did it's job! You are very blessed to be at 32 weeks. Hang in there, do be nervous you are right there. With my first pregnancy, I had a rescue cerclage and I was one of the 50/50 whose bag was broken during the procedure. I found out about a week later. So at 18 1/2 weeks I had an epidural and was induced. They took the cerclage out after the epidural so I did not feel it. I have heard some people say it is not that bad of pain. Some say that they didn't even feel it. Some say there were so excited to have made it that far that they were not even focusing on whether it hurt or not. As far as how soon you will go it depends. If you have already dialted from within then you will go quicker than if you have not dialted. Those who have true cervical incompetence will go relatively fast oppose to those who do not truly have it. So the first couple of days stay close to the hospital...it may come quick! Were you taking in meds up until this point, have you recieved any steroid shots in case you go into labor early? Take care and keep that little one safe. Carmen

Hello, Well, it seems like you are fine since you are 32 weeks. Sometimes they give steroid shots before the 34-36 week if they think you are going to go into labor soon. It's hard to tell since they haven't checked your cervix. I wouldn't worry. I long to be where you are today. I havee 19 weeks left to 40 weeks. Every doctor is different. i got my cerclage at 14 weeks. One week I had my cervix checked via pelvic exam, then a week later I had a TV u/s. I then had a 1 week TV u/s cervical check which caught cervical shortening. Since then I have had one once a week to make sure it remains stable. I want have any more until about another 2 weeks or so since the length is stable. I was put on 17 P shots once a week in which a home health nurse comes to do. I will take these shots up until 34weeks or so. Again, it is wondeful to see another cerclage pregnancy reach full-term. Let us know if it hurts when it comes out. That way we can be prepared. Carmen

    Re: I Have cervical Cerclage

I just had my cerclage removed on Monday.  Mine did hurt.  It was very uncomfortable.  My mom was with me and I was squeezing her hand.  It didn't last too long though.  And mine was a little embedded.  He also snipped a piece of my cervix.  (due to it being embedded).  It wasn't THAT painful - more uncomfortable.  But I didn't like it.  It felt real crampy while he was doing it.

After he was done he checked me and I was 2-3 cm's dilated and pretty thinned out.  He said i could stay like that for a while or i could go that night.  So far nothing has been happening.

    Good luck with yours.

When he nipped me it only hurt for a second.  I was a little crampy afterwards.  I didn't notice much blood though.  I would have never known if he didn't tell me.  I'm still pregnant - almost 2 weeks later!!  I got my cerclage when I was 12 weeks and got it out at 36 weeks.

Hello. Is any one there? I had a stitch put in at 16+2 days and for the past 2 days I have been having low abdomenal/pelvis pain which last for a few hours at a time. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before as I am really worried about it. Thank you

Hi Marley, i so envy you! you are so far gone! i'm 19 weeks along with a cerclage which was put in at 12 weeks. From what i've heard/read, it shouldnt be that painful. Most people say having it put in is actually more uncomfortable than having it out.So just relax you can do it.Infact if i were you i wouldnt even care or think about having the pain of the stitch removed.its a very small price to pay compared to the reward!
