    I cant gain weight!!

I am about 13-14 weeks along, and at my last ob visit, my dr informed me that I had lost 20 pounds in the past 3 months.... I cant keep anything down, and I am never hungry... I dont know what to do.. I didnt have any problems with my first child, and I smoked while pregnant with her... shes perfectly healthy and very smart i might add, for the people who think that I did a horrible thing... with this baby I have cut back on what I smoke, and I try to eat as much as I can, but I cant keep it down... any suggestions??

You can get fruit and veggies by drinking the drinks like V-8.  You could make you some smoothies or just try nibbling through out the day.  If you make something that is easily reheating in sections.  Talk to your doctor about meds.  Just remember that you have to make every meal count.  Even if your throwing every thing up your still getting a little bit of nutrients from the meal.

You didn't mention what your pre-pregnancy weight was, but if you were heavy, keep in mind that weight gain can be minimal or women can even lose weight when pregnant if they were heavy to start because of all the energy needed to keep both of you going.  Even if you were heavy or a healthy weight, try the Brewer Diet.  It suggests 80-100 grams of protein daily, including a quart of milk and 2 eggs a day, lots of colorful veggies and fruit, whole grains, and little starch or sweets.  You should be drinking a fair amount of water, too-- take your current weight and divide it in half; that is the amount of water you should be drinking in ounces.  Salt your food to taste and avoid as much processed foods as you can.  Those microwave lunches and dinners may look appetizing but they don't contain as many nutrients as whole foods would.  If you're not hungry, try putting yourself on a schedule and munch on something healthy every 2 hours or so.  HTH!

Have you been checked for diabetes? A co-worker of mine had diabetes and had the exact same problem...turned out she had to have bed rest for several months....try drinking protein shakes and smoothies in the meantime...ginger is usually good for nausea..as well as eating small frequent snacks...sweet and salty combo tends to help with nausea...
