    Just an update.

Hi my name is Shannon. I thought it would be nice if everyone on this high risk board would just update us periodically on how everything is going.. I am high risk bc i suffer from antiphosphipid syndrom (a blood Clotting issure) and i tested positive for the antibody M and i m pregnant with twins that originally appeared to share one placenta. I am not almost 12 weeks which is a bleesing..And they have discovered that the twins have there own placentas which is a big relief..Im still taking lovonox daily. and i have to have my blood tested monthly for the antibody m thing but everything seems to be going well .. i go for a tarteted ultrasound on june 22..and my next dr appt is may 6th which is next week..

    Re: Just an update.

Hi Shannon, nice to meet you. I am 25 weeks pregnant with cervical incompetence and I have a cerclage. In addition, I have had boderline BP's and gestational diabetes. So that is why I am considered high risk. I have been on home bedrest for the last 6 weeks and will be until the baby comes. I spend most of my time over on the bedrest board. I am glad that the twins have their own placentas that is a big relief. Hang in there. I truly thank God everyday for where I am. I will tell you it has been a long road...second pregnancy, first ended in second trimester miscarriage. So being 25 weeks and in the viability stage is a relief. It is not my greatest relief, but it is a relief. Take care and keep us updated about your pregnancy.Carmen

    Re: Just an update.

Hi Carmen,Sooo nice to get to meet you.My name is Penny and i joined this site yesterday.I'm 19 weeks today and i had my cerclage put in at 12 weeks! its been 7 weeks since ans so far so good-knock on wood(i thank God so much for i've not had any complications up untill now. After my stitch i rested for two weeks then i went back to work.I've really discussed my working with my OB and so far he feels i can continue but taaaake it easy.I work 5 days a week 8 hrs a day.My work involves sitting down most of the day so i really hope this isnt so bad because i dont do any heavy lifting and i'm not up and about much.I SOOOO ENVY YOU:CANT WAIT TO GET TO 25 WEEKS! it'll be such a relief for me caus i've lost 2 babies at 18-23 weeks.Right now i'm so nervous caus i've just entered the danger zone.Infact last nite i didnt sleep so well i kept imagining i'll wake up and find my water broke-caus that's what hapenned to me last time. Any tips you can give me? what challenges have you faced? are you on any medication? Penny.

    Re: Just an update.

Hi Penny. I am glad your pregnancy is going well so far. Have you gotten your cervical length measured recently? At 19 weeks I got my cervical length measured an it was 1.8cm and funneling to the stich. Three weeks prior to that my length was over 3cm. So our cervix can change quickly. Since 19 weeks I have been on bedrest. I am a nurse and my doctor told me that I could work 1 day a week so I did. Later on I found that my cervical length changed. So definitely take it easy if you are working. I get cervical lengths checked about every 2 weeks. It has been stable, although last week it was 2cm on the ultrasound then went down to right under 1 cm. So, that tells you that a cervi changes quickly. I am not sure if bedrest is the answer. It has been for me so far. In addition, I take 17P shots weekly...not sure if you are already on it. I would ask if you are not already. It helps relax the uterus and reduce contractions (pre-term labor). So this is my 6th week of bedrest and my next milestone is 28 weeks. I too have those night mares about going into labor. I just pray them out of my head. Keep up the faith and let us know how you are doing. We are here for each other. Carmen

    Re: Just an update.

Hey, thanks for your reply.I'm so glad to hear you've gone thus far and so far things are looking up for you.As i said for me just getting to where you are right now will mean soo much. Yes i had my cervical measured at 18 weeks and it was 2.05 but no funneling.-i panicked but the Doctor who was doing the U/S(not my regular OB) reassured me and said"thats why you have the cerclage in the first place right" Anyways i have an appointmnt with my regular OB in a weeks time so i'll raise my concern with him and ask what he really thinks about my continued working.Thing is at the end of the day its my decision afterall i'm the one who know how it feels to go home without a baby after carrying upto 22 weeks.I'm not on the 17 p shots but my uterus has been quite calm no contractions, nothing. So maybe this is why my OB has not felt the need to start that on me but again i'll raise this with him when i see him in a weeks time.Gosh, you must've been really scared with your cervix going right down to 1 cm!!!!!!! Thank God the stitch is holding up.All of you girls here have been such a blessing. Now i know even if i'm put on bedrest i can do it caus you guys have shown it can be done even though its tough.Well you'll be in my thoughts and prayers and lets keep talking.Penny
