Re: Whats going on with your week?
Hi Carmen! Thanks for checking in on us. I hope you had/are having a good appointment today. 28w 2d, that's great! I have kept all of you in my prayers. My week is going pretty good. I am 33w 1d. I had an u/s on Wed for fetal growth. The baby is 4lbs 1oz which is on the smaller side but not concerning at this point. I am a small person my self and only weighed 5.3 when I was born so I am trying not to stress about it. I will go back in 2 weeks for another growth check and a BPP (Biophysical profile) which is an u/s that checks how the baby is doing as far as breathing, muscle tone etc. I will be SOoooo happy when I do not have to go for any more u/s. All in all, the fact that I am on my way to 34 weeks makes me feel very settled. I am even going to venture out to Babies R us today for a quick trip. Good to hear from you and please let us know how your appointment went. And to the others, hope all is well with you too! Ruth Ann

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Hi Carmen.....I am doing ok......Kaleb is doing ok. He came down with some infections so they are treating him for them. Other than that he is doing good.....tolerating his feeds, getting bigger, and he is so fiesty. I get to hold him from time to time which i love and so does he. The nurses have me doing kangaroo care with him. This is going to be a long three months but i know he will pull through fine.....I am praying at least. I can't wait to bring him home. I know what you are facing and all i can say is pray and stay in that bed. If you opened up any further please admit yourself or have your doctor admit you to the hospital.....It is a scary experience. Stay strong, they say the cervix can close up.....mine unfortunately didn't. Keep me posted on how your visit went.....I will definitely keep you in my prayers.......this experience is very emotional.

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Glad to hear from you Ruth. Don't worry about the growth...relax and enjoy the next weeks of your pregnancy. It is so good to hear that you are 33 weeks. I pray everyday that God gets me there...I believe he will. I tooo cannot wait until all the u/s are done...believe me I can live without them. Yes I did have an appointment today and by God's grace my cervix was closed and there was no further dilation!!! So THANK YOU GOD! I get to come back in 2 weeks instead of 1 week. Since I am not contracting or anything he thinks that it will be safe. i need a break. This is like the 5th or 6th spec exam. But you know if I feel anything I will definitely call him, which he instructed me to. Tuesday the baby was measuring at 2 1/2 pounds so right on target. I will be relaxed at 32 weeks even more relaxed at 34 weeks. I feel like my body can hold him/her in, but it is what ever God plans is.
Diyyya- I am glad Caleb is doing well. I know it must be hard. Infections are common. Just glad to see him thriving well. What is Kangaroo care? He will be home before you know it. Have you gone shopping yet for him? How do manage visits and manage leaving him to go home and do things. I know you want to be there for every little things and most nurses/doctors will tell you to go home and rest. Thanks for asking about my cervix. Believe me if it had furthered dilated I would be in the hospital. But I am believing God that it I want have to come to that point. Take care ladies. I am praying for you tonight. Carmen

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Hi Carmen......Kangaroo care is when they put the infant on your chest so mom and baby are skin to skin.....the baby is soothed by mom's heartbeat......they say it helps the baby to grow and it increases the milk supply. I want to breastfeed so i have been supplying the nurses with milk for him and he is tolerating it......He will be off the IV's as soon as he gets to 15 cc's and he is already at 10 cc's every 3 hours( that is how much milk they feed him). I was shopping here and there for him before he came....they say not to but i couldn't help it especially when i saw something really cute. I purchased him a bouncer, bassinet, activity mat, some clothes, and a cozy rider (the sling you put on your chest to hold baby). I purchased the head support for a car seat, some blankets, and an activity turtle for when he gets a little older yesterday while i was out shopping. This is my first child and for everything that i endured he is going to be spoiled rotten.....It is good to hear that your cervix closed up......I still wonder to this day why my cervix gave in.....I learned from my mom that my grandmother and aunt had issues with some of their pregnancies as well.....I have a cousin who was a preemie to......I wonder can it be hereditary.....I don't know but i had all types of stuff going on coming into this pregnancy. I had fibroids, endometriosis( so the fact that i got pregnant is a blessing in its self), incompetent cervix, rh negative blood just to name a few. Well continue to take care of yourself.....try not to be too active.....just relax....you are almost there.....as always i will keep you in my prayers........I will post some pics of him up as soon as he gets out the incubator......hopefully around his 30th- 32nd week so in the next two to four weeks...Continue to stay strong!

Great news on your cervix and hooray for not having to go back for 2 weeks!!! It is exhausting to have an appointment every week, I know. Enjoy your break! Diyya - I too am glad to hear Caleb is doing well. I am sure it is a very emotional situation to go through. I will keep you in my prayers.

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Wow everyone seems to be doing so well this week! Good job ladies on hanging in there. And congrats on your little guy being so fiesty! That's wonderful and I'm so glad that you get to hold him and do kangaroo care. That's got to be therapudic for both of you. And good job on the pumping also! That's wonderful that you are trying to give him that extra boost! Good for you! I'm doing okay here. Getting really annoyed with bedrest this week. I know we all have our days though. But I've made it to 32 weeks today. So that's really good. I'm just feeling like I can't keep her in that much longer and would be happy with 35 or 36 weeks. I know that sounds horrible though. And I have my sister's wedding to go to in Aug now too(just found out about it this week!). So I'll still be pretty chunky regardless of when I have her for my sister's wedding and of course I'm in the wedding party. But I guess it's good she wants me in it too. Good luck this next week ladies and keep those buns cooking!

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Angela - I know how you are feeling and it does not sound horrible. Being on bederst...well flat out stinks and we have been doing it for a long time....enough is enough. I am feeling the same way. I am 33w 4d and cannot wait to hit 35, 36 weeks and not walk on eggshells all the time. I have the same thoughts about the baby coming a few weeks early...not too many weeks...but a few. I have been doing more lately and am more modified bedrest I guess but get nervous I am pushing it. All of the drs have different views so I use my best judgement. I recall you were on bedrest with one of your other pregnancies, right? DId you go to full term? When did they let you off of bedrest? That is tough with your sisters wedding coming up but you will loose some of the weight by then and I'm sure look better than you think. I hope it is a nice bridesmaid dress. That can always help too. Have a good week!

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Thanks Ruth. I did go full term with my last pregnancy, the one I was on bedrest with. He was a whole day early but they thought he was two weeks early but still considered term. He was 8lbs 8 oz. They took me off bedrest and about two weeks later I had him. I think they may let me off bedrest earlier since I'm not contracting as much this time. THey normally let us off bedrest around 36 weeks around here. I'm shooting for 34 weeks, so hopefully not too much longer. The dress for the wedding does sound nice, but I'm worried I'll look pregnant still in it, since my weight is normally mostly in my stomache. Yuck! I hope you are right about looking okay!

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Hi there. I hope you all are having a good week. My week is going good but I am finding myself having 'one of those days' and I need to get it out. I will be 34 weeks tomorrow and don't get me wrong I am thrilled about that but I had an appointment with my OB yesterday and we talked about the fetal growth results from my u/s last week. Last week, the baby weighed 4.1 which is in the 19th percentile. He said there is no reason to be alarmed but what they see is that the percentile is decreasing as I go along. I will admit I am a super anxious person when it comes to medical stuff and he repeatedly told me not to be alarmed but I just feel sick to my stomach thinking about it. He said worse case scenario they would induce me a couple weeks early. I asked what causes this and he said usually it is insufficient plancenta and of course my next question...what causes that....he said, hypertension, stress. Well, this has been the most stressful 3 months of my life. I feel like my baby has just had enough. Ok, sorry for the pity party but I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Ruth I am sorry that you feel a little discouraged. It will be fine. Sometimes babies grow differently plus u/s are not 100 percent accurate...remember these are always an average of measurements. Try not to stress out about this.I have known some friends who have had the same thing and their babies came out fine. If the u/s continue to show restricted growth sometimes the doctors will do an aminio to look at the lung maturity and delivery earlier. That is very common. There are times when the babies will just thrive better outside the womb. Sometime they put you on bedrest too because that will allow more blood to get to the placenta, however, you have already been doing that so I don't know if that is an option. Take it easy...don't worry. If you have to delivery early, you are sure at a great place to do so! Congrats, I can not wait to get to 34 weeks. Keep us updated. Carmen

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Thanks Carmen. Reading your post makes me feel a lot better. I also have to remind myfelf that these high risk drs have been keeping a close eye on me and the baby for some time now and if they were truly worried, they would have started doing other tests etc by now. I think I am the worried one...surprise, surprise :). I have another growth u/s next week and they will also be doing a biophysical profile u/s which is not related to the growth concern but because I am considered advanced maternal age....I tired to fight that one but at this point...whatever! Anyway, I hope you are having a good week and 34 weeks is not so far for you! Just think of how far we have all come. It is truly a blessing! Thanks again for the reassurance.

Re: Whats going on with your week?
I'm sorry you are haing a bad day! Just remember that in two weeks you'll be 36 weeks and even that would be a great time to have your little one after all this worry! And I agree w/Carmen. U/S's aren't as accurate as they would like them and your baby is probably fine. But it doesn't hurt to see how they are doing though. I hope that one goes better for you though. Try to keep your head up. I can't wait until 34 weeks, even though I'm almost 33 for some reason any thing 34 and over sounds so much better to me! lol. Congrats on making it this far, you're doing a great job!

Re: Whats going on with your week?
Okay my drs appointment today! So baby is good, no more NSTs, YEAH! Baby is heads down. I'll be off the terb next week. The dr told me 36 to 37 weeks would be great for me to have her. I'm 32 weeks 5 days, DR says that she's about 5 lbs. I'm measuring 34 weeks. So really good. No dialation or effacement yet. I'm hoping that holds off until my next appointment in....drum roll please...2 WEEKS! YEAH! I'm so excited that I don't have to go back next week and don't have to do anymore NST's. I don't like them but of course I'd do whatever I need to for the baby. But only a few more weeks to go until all is safe for the baby! SO YEAH! Hope you all are having a good week too. We're going to shoot for 37 weeks though, to know about the GBS test results. So I have about 4 weeks until then. I'm so excited.
