Pregnant again and have two beautiful children with Down syndrome, just curious.......

Hi, I am the proud mother of two children with trisomy 21. Mikayla is 12 and Nathan is almost 8. They are beautiful and the loves of my life. I knew before both of them were born that they had DS. I go to the doctor tomorrow and will be scheduling an appointment with a specialist very very soon. I know that the life I am carrying is perfect because he/she is God's design, but it is still very difficult. Does anyone out there know of anyone having 3 children with Down Syndrome? Again, both of my children have trisomy 21 and it is not genetically linked to me. This little one has a different daddy so maybe that will make a difference -- not sure. I guess I just need some positive support right now. I'm trying to stay positive, but its hard.

Hi, I'm pretty sure your risk is no higher than the next person. I work with adults who have DS and MR and I think they are some of the greatest people I have ever met and I couldn't imagine my life without them. I wish you luck and stay strong!

Thank you for being so kind, it really means alot to hear that from someone I've never even met. You hit it right on the nose with other peoples perceptions, I think that is the toughest to deal with at times. Some have said ' shoud i say your crazy or congratulations. I have always wanted another child -- but never thought it would happen, and God chose to allow it - so I am very excited and can't wait to meet the little one he is blessing me with this time. Good luck to you and your little one. xoxo

Hi and thank you for responding to my post. People with Down syndrome will change your life forever that is for sure. Mikayla and Nathan have brought so much joy to my life and allowed me to educate others about Down syndrome in general and help them to be accepting of someone whio is different then the 'norm'. They are my life and I'm very thankful to be able to share the love that I have for them with another little one. Take care.
