i agree the doc's "baby too big" thing is total BS. like others said, size estimation is wildly inaccurate. and i know LOTS of women who have had babies over 10 pounds at home, one was 11+ lbs, and the labor was hard and long, but the kid got out and was fine. she was a real thin girl, too.

my own two have been over 8 lbs, home water births. your body is made to do this; an 8 or 9 lb baby is NOT "too big".

Didn't read replies, sorry. I know someone who just had an 11 lb 12 oz babe naturally after having two previous cesareans for 'big babies' (9lbers). One of my cesareans was for a 'failed' trial of labor b/c my baby was supposedly too big at 8 lbs 13 oz, & I went on to push my third child out at home, completely naturally, at 9 lbs 10 oz with both hands by his head & an intact perineum. A mom who had a 12+ lb baby vaginally was just at my yard sale today. I know a doula who had a client who was told that her baby would be too big & was estimated at 9+ lbs & should go have an immediate cesarean; she refused & went on to push out her 11 lb 10 oz babe normally, naturally, & with only a few hour labor & few minutes long pushing stage.

PCOS only acts like diabetes in that it can make your blood sugar high. have you had problems with your blood sugar through this PG? If not then ypour PCOS DOES NOT affect your baby the same way diabetes does. And blood sugar caused by PCOS is mostly a prob in getting PG and keeping it through the 1'st trimester also it is a lot easier to handle/manage than w/true diabetes. Unmanaged blood sugar during PG can cause the placenta to deteriorate faster, but that can be checked through a simple test, they monitor the babys heartrate while its moving inside you. My sister has it done twice a week (because of her age) it takes 20 minutes and is non-invasive..Don't let them induce for that unless they can show you test results that indicate your baby is not doing well. As far as inducing for size the AGOG recommends against doing that. So your DR is recommending something that is against the standard practice. Plus, statistically I could flip a coin and guess your babys weight with the same accuracy the drs have--they are right about 50% of the time. And even if your baby is big that means nothing. I am 5'7 and weighed 95 lbs before i got PG (naturally I am very small with a tiny frame) My son was almost 7lbs with a 14 1/2" head. i gave birth vaginally w/no meds at all. He came out just fine. Nature has a way of making sure that babies caome out the way they were intended. very rarely does a woman grow a baby that is really too large to fit through her pelvis. Trust your body. Trust nature. Women have been giving birth vaginally for hundreds of thousands of years. So can you! Drs do know best. however, they look at PG as an illness they need to manage. They are trained to find problems and so they often see them where none exist. Its a matter of being trained to take that perspective--find out whats wrong and fix it. Problem is often there is nothing wrong but since they are trained to look for them they see them anyway. Good Luck!
