Hi Sara, my name is Carmen. Welcome to the bedrest board. There are many women on here who are pros at bedrest. I have cevical incompetence and a short cervix which has required me to be on bedrest. This is my 15th week...been on it since my 19th week. I am 34 weeks pregnant now and through the grace of God I have made it this far. Some of the other women on the board were having preterm labor and early dilation. I do have a history of boderline chronic high blood pressure. It has never been extremely high during pregnancy...130's over mid to high 90's. It has stabalized for me though as I continue to get further along. I think the high numbers earlier were a result of mental stress of being on bedrest and worrying about the pregnancy. Fortunatelty, I have not had any protein in my urine or any swelling...so no preeclampsia here. I don't need to have anything else to worry about either. How far along are you? Are you taking anything for your BP. I take Aldomet which is really low low dose and a very old drug!!! It doesn't always work with everyone, but it has done me well. Hope you have a great week.

Hi Sara, my name is Ruth Ann and like Carmen, I have been hanging out on this bedrest board for quite a while.  Sorry to hear you were put on bedrest.  I am not going to say it is an easy thing but what I can tell you is it gets better every week!  We are living proof!  So, my story...I was put on bedrest at 21 weeks due to preterm labor and shortening cervix.  I got mixed opionions from different doctors on bedrest but listened to my body and pretty much stayed put, off my feet unitl 34 weeks.  I took the first month off from work and was just devistated and well, angry that this had happened to us (this is my first).  Once I accepted it was just something I had to do, it got better.  I began working from home on the couch which I am very grateful my job allowed.  So after many long weeks (I actually forget how  many) I am now 38w 5d and cannot believe it!  The doctors now joke that I will have to be induced past my due date which is next Thurs 7/9.  My advice is to remind yourself that it is only temporary and while you may have days where you want to give up....don't it works!  Hang in there and check into this board often.  These ladies got me through some tough ones!  I will keep you in my prayers. Take care, RA
