  Ravenscroft can be a mouthful... Reply Contact Our last name is Ravenscroft (long A like the bird) and I am having a hard time trying to think of a name for this baby.  I know it's early, but I feel like this is going to take us a while, so any help would be appreciated.  We have one son whose name is Jack Lionel.  (Jack after my grandfather, Lionel after my husband's gradnfather).  I'd like to stick to something classic and not trendy, and something short so when the poor kid enters school s/he doesn't have to write a novel for his/her name.  Any one have any suggestions?  My husband's name is Jason Lionel and my name is Amanda (Mandee) Kae.  Thanks in advance.

Reply Contact Amy1stotw: Two of my favorite names that are shorter are Anna for a girl and Grant for a boy.  LOL!  Too funny you say that Amy.  My DH's grandmother's name is Anna Lee and my BIL and SIL are due with a girl in October they are naming Anna Lee.  So...can't use Anna...unless we want three Anna Ravenscroft at once!  My sister has a nephew named Grant and I wouldn't want her to have two nephews named Grant...although it is a nice short name.  I thought about Graham...but maybe spelling it Gram...just so it was short...but I don't know how Jason feels about that.  Thought I'd get some ideas and then take them to him...

It will save him lots of spelling outloud for people...also it looks more professional for one day when he's a CEO or something:)

What about Ned? I think it also sounds good with Jack. For a girl, what about Kate? It's close to your middle name and is classic.

It's not overly common, and it's short and sweet. I wish I could use it, but with the last name "Ford" it sounds too choppy. I think Jude Ravenscroft flows well, though. Good luck with your name hunt!
