    cerclage ?s (carmen?)

so, i have introduced my self here but i havent really been on full bed rest, well yesterday i went for my BIG u/s and baby looked great, but my cervix had shrunk.its 21 mm and they want it at 25mm. I am now in the hosp waiting to have the procedure done tomorrow at 1030.  im sooo scared!  they said theres a chance my water could break and other bad things!  they did say that i still have a good chunk left and my water bag is higher up, so my risk is lower, but there is still a risk.. whats worse? getting it, or going home hoping i can make it???  i am 19 weeks now and they say after 20 its too risky to do it cuz it could stimulate labor! so needless to say i have a 100?s, any advice/info would be great!  do they put me out to put the stitch in?  tell me about the procedure, after, during, etc...everything!!! LOL!  im just so scared, my head is spinning, i did not expect this!  Thanks sooo soooo soo much!  Im also assuming from here on out I will be a permanent member here right? cuz i will be on full BR with the stitch i think?!?!?!?  Hope u ladies are doing well...thanks again, i really love this board and all the help i can get  it means so much to me!

well, the stitch is in!  it wasnt as bad as i thought, but still pretty scary. i go home from the hosp tomorrow, been here since tues, had cerclage thurs!  i am only going home on a "trial" basis.  If my cervix shows change at any point during my weekly u/s, im back on hosp BR till i deliver. so  i was on modififed duty and i posted an intro here cuz i had a feeling i would be here....and here i am LOL  its not strict BR, i can bring my son to school, and pick him up, make meals (if NO ONE else is around), shower, bathroom, etc...when i go out i have to be in a wheel chair i think.....so we will see what happens!  i wonder if there is anyway to get a temporary handicapped thing so i can park closer, esp as the holidays approach!  well anyways,i am now a full time member here!  cant wait to go through these hard long awaited journeys with you and God willing, we all have healthy, happy babies in the end:)  ive been through a lot, i dont claim to be an expert, but pretty much every issue that woman have during pregnancy, ive had at least once (except GD and IC-which I have now hehe)!  cant wait to get to know you all!

Hey, I am sorry you are on bedrest and had to get a cerclage done. I am on BR, have been since 24 weeks, I am now 27 weeks. I am expecting identical boys in Dec, but I know they will be here MUCH sooner then planned. My guess is around my 32-33 weeks mark. I am currently on Adalat for contraction control as well. Before being released from the hospital 3 weeks ago, was there for 5 days, I was 1.5 cm dialated and 60% effaced. Good luck with your BR and hope to get to know you!

Yes this board was very active during the summer, but we all had our little bundles! I did had a cerclage placed at 12 weeks but ended up going on bedrest from 19 weeks until my 37th week due to funneling to the stich and .7cm cervix. Miracles do happen and I am one of them. My little boy Jaxon was born on 7/26 so I have been busy ever since. If you guys have any questions feel free to email me at crlong3@hotmail.com. I am a nurse and experienced cerclage patient...lost my first at 20 weeks due to IC. Okay wish you all the best. Carmen
