Alana vs. Alanna vs. Alannah

  Alana vs. Alanna vs. Alannah Reply Contact As I said in a previous post we are leaning toward the name Alana if we have a girl but I have seen it spelled three different ways.  Behindthename.com (which I learned was a great authority on actual meanings from someone on here when I was trying to find names for my last baby) says Alana and Alanna are English and a form of Alan, Alannah is a variant of Alana but it was influenced from a Gaelic phrase which means “O child”.  I like that meaning better than the meaning of Alan which is “little rock” or “handsome” but Alannah is a variant of Alana so I am guessing Alana is the more “true form”.  Which do you guys prefer?

O child. And Alanna and Alana are also Old German and Hawiian and means "precious; awakening"
