Miscarriage Support

It’s perfectly normal to feel shock, grief, depression, fatigue, and a sense of failure after a miscarriage – especially if it was your first or if you had a hard time conceiving. But the women on this board know just what you’re going through and can offer support, help, and friendship.

Probably been asked before but looking for some support

I started bleeding 10-16-09 - pretty light but then got heavier, then lighter and now heavier again. I've had blood work done - levels dropped from 2200 to 1100 in 48 hours and down to 800 5 days after that. So just some questions: how long should I bleed for? How long before my hCG levels are down? The nurse told me that they should be below 5 before I see the doctor, get checked out and then we should wait 2-3 cycles before trying again. We both feel we are ready now but maybe that is not safe? Anyone out there that can give me a clue what is normal??

I am so sorry for your loss. I had my m/c 10-02-09. I bled for 2 straight weeks heavy for the first week and then it started to taper off. I went to see my OB/GN 10-29-09 and he did some blood tests to check to see if my levels are below 5 again. My husband and I are ready to try again too, but my DR told me to wait a least 1 cycle before we try again. It can take up to 7 weeks or so for your body to regulate itself and a woman is very fertile right after a m/c So you could possibly get pregnant before your 1st cycle returns. Good luck.

I had a m/c in Sept 08... I bled for about a week and it was just a bit heavier than a period. My levels dropped really fast though:( I got pregnant again in Dec 08 and now have a beautiful 6 week old little girl... I think all Dr.'s pretty much recommend waiting till you have at least one normal cycle just to be safe. Although I have read quite a few success stories from people who have gotten pregnant right away. I think it will depend on you and how you process the whole thing. Some take longer than others as with any loss. I wish you the best!

I agree with the pp. But I know alot of people who have tried again and had a successful pregnancy, if you feel mind and body that you are ready to try again then so be it:)
