    husband is not happy...

I'm in a strange situation and really need some support. My husband and I have been trying to concieve for a little over a year and we even went to a fertility specialists. I took pills to make more eggs release. Well it worked on the first try and I couldn't be happier, but my husband is not happy at all. He told me he wasn't happy about the pregnancy. I told him I don't understand since we've been trying for over a year and he said that he just got it in his head that it wasn't going to happen so he would keep trying knowing nothing would take. He's also saying he isn't happy about our relationship either!! Is he just in shock or scared? Has anyone else been through this? I went from being the happiest I've ever been in my life to being the saddest I've ever been in a matter of days. I worry that all the stress I'm going through right now isn't good for the baby and it's hard for me to concentrate on being pregnant when my husband isn't happy at all. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your miracle. How far along are you? Sometimes, when we first find out were pregnant, it is hard for our DH's to understand. They have been #1 in our lives for so long, its hard for them to open up and realize they will now be "competing" with a baby. They dont have the instant bond we do with our kids, cause they dont go through the pregnancy like we do. My BF is only really involved with the appointments and such, he doesnt touch my belly or talk to the baby at all. I think its just their way. Hopefully as you progress in your pregnancy he will come around and be happy. For some men, they think they are losing their life when they have a baby on the way, another stress or responsibility they have put on them and they have no control over it. I would try to sit down and really talk to him about it, and let him get all his fears and worries out.

IF hes saying hes not happy with your relationship as a couple, my question would be why? Was he not there when you were going to the doc and getting the pills to make you ovulate more? Did he not know about it and it came as some big surprise? I would try to talk to him about it, and ask why he continued to have unprotected sex with you, knowing it COULD happen. even if he didnt think it WOULD. Tell him about the stress its putting on you knowing how he feels and see what can be done to change things. You made this baby together, you should have his support through your pregnancy.

HUGS~ pregnancy is hard on everyone, including the dads to be.......

Don't worry sweet heart. The worst thing to do right now is worry. I have similar problems with my DH. He doesn't say he is unhappy but he stills acts like a bachelor with no responsiblities to a wife let alone that he has a 2 year old as well. he goes out at night because he doesnt want to be bored. I have Hyperemisis Gravidarum, and was sick a lot and slept a lot he was gone a lot because he said he doesn't want to be home and bored while I'm sleeping. He doesn't really help me out with a lot of things either. keeping the house clean mostly. Its as if he is not ready to accept that he has to be an adult now. that he has responsibilities. I know he will come around, He is adjusting to having a family... a real one... beacuse his sons mom is not a very good person, and he himself comes from a broken home. All I want for my boys is for them to be secure and happy but I have to think of myself to. So don't forget to think about yourself! He will come around, if he doesn't you still have been given the greatest gift a woman can get... a child. focus on that! Best of luck to you!
