    Re: Name Help?!

    Madden- don't like

Brody- like lots, but the name is pretty popular

    What about... Holden, Keaton, Cullen

Maddyn(call her Maddy)- again don't like, and like it even less on a girl... if you are looking for an interesting name for the nn Maddy, what about... Madelle, Madelena, Madzia

    Aubrea- pretty, but popular

Hayden- don't like for a girl, in addition the -ayden names are WAY too over used, not in the least bit unique right now

Harlow - an old mans name, for sure NOT for a little girl.

    What about: Auden, Tatum, Afton

    Re: Name Help?!

Madden-okay but it has the word mad in it

Brody- makes me think grody brody

    Maddyn-definitley not a girls name

    Aubrea-kinda pretty

Hayden-to masculine and all the ayden ending names are over used

Harlow- okay, but because of nicole richies daughter this name is really trendy right now

    suggestions:

Brodin (you can use brody as a nn, but if he gets tired of it he can use his full name)

    Keane

    Deacon

    Dashiel

    Quade

    Cayda

    Evenie

    Cassia

    Lyra

    Amadee

    Tawny

    Re: Name Help?!

    Richie/Madden fan?

    ---------

Madden/Maddyn - Terrible as first names, especially since 'madden' is an English word meaning 'to make mad'. Naming a child 'madden' is just asking for trouble.Stick out tongueAnd does the world really need yet another Maddy? >< That nickname has lost all meaning for me, seeing as every second little girl has it - be they Madisons or Madeleines. It's the definition of trendy.

Brody - Meh. I've never seen any appeal in this name, but there's nothing wrong with it apart from the trendiness.

Aubrea - I want to say au-BREE-ah when I look at this name. I'd go with Aubrey (a bit trendy though) - or Audrey - even better!Big Smile.

Hayden - Extremely masculine to me (and too trendy). What about Hayley/Hailey?

Harlow - I hate that Nicole Richie had to name her daughter this. A ton of mothers-to-be have been considering it ever since. Aside from being yet another surname - and not even a girly sounding one - there is nothing remotely attractive about this name to me, sorry. It is one letter away from 'harlot' and sounds and looks like 'hollow'. Even if you don't mind, there are hardly any clued-in people who wouldn't immediately assume you're imitating Richie.

    --------

Sorry if my post is a bit harsh. I like different names too! Unfortunately, 'trendy' is the exact opposite of 'different', so it bugs me when people say they like 'different' names and then go on to list things like Kaylee/Jaylee, McKenzie/McKenna/Madison/Addison/Emerson and Jayden/Hayden/Brayden/Kayden/AydenConfused. I'm sure you can find a name which is 'different' enough for you without being too out there - but none of the names above suit that criteria.

    Re: Name Help?!

Hi, I have to agree with you on the name! My 8 yr old dd Harper's nn is Talley. Her older sister gave her that nn as soon as I said I had a baby in my tummy. We really wanted to name her Tallyn or Talan boy or girl but our dd#2 is Hollyn and we thought it was way too close. I am pregnant with #5 we don't know the sex of the baby but it will probably be Hadden (B) Haddyn (G) SO, that being said i do really like the name Madden. We have "H" kids so thats how I came up with Hadden/Haddyn. The name Madison nn Maddy is fully accepted so why not be diff and go Maddyn. I love it! I do also like Brody but I have a thing about boys names ending with a Y. I like that your first ends with and N and think if this baby is a boy it ending in an N also sounds nice. Go with your heart, people have a hard time with different names so you will get many neg opinions. I think it takes a while to get used to any name that you are not used to hearing. I have had to tell everyone to hear the names I a thinking about and please not say anything until they have thought about them for a while. Let the names sink in......it takes a while to get used to most new things. Oh just a thought, I love the name Teagen thought it was cute with Talan! God Bless

    Re: Name Help?!

Here's the thing I don't get about NNs.  Aren't they meant to either shorten the actual name, or sound completely different than the actual name?  How is Maddy a NN of Maddyn?  It's almost exactly the same.  You may as well just name her Maddy.  I don't really mind the name Maddyn, but doing it just for the sake of a NN seems silly.  As for the rest of your names, I'm not crazy about any of them.  Brody is OK, but I like Brady better.  I also like what the pp suggested.  Teagan is adorable and it works for both a boy and a girl.

    Re: Name Help?!

Just curious jennarooski, what are the rest of your kids' names? I like Harper and Hadden.

And, PS: I'm pregnant w/ a little girl and we are naming her Teaghan. Our 18 month old son is London. With a firstborn named London, we couldn't very well have a name like "sara"! I like the meaning of Teaghan: depending on how you spell it, it can mean 'little poet', 'attractive' and/or 'beautiful'.

O and finally I love the name Talan. However, the names that you are considering for this child are a bit trendy. I love the name Harlow. I think Jean Harlow was beautiful. It's like naming your daughter Marilyn after Marilyn Monroe. And I know a teenager named that. I liked it before Nicole Ritchie named her daughter that. As long as you don't mind your kid being one of 5 Maddyns/Haydens/Brodys in the classroom then go for it. I don't like that scenario but that's just me. Hope you are able to find a name that fits. Good luck!

    Re: Name Help?!

I like the name Talan, my hubby would never allow it tho. I like unique names as well, but unique in the way that no one else uses it, but that its an actual name... We names our daughter Charli, short for Charlize. When ever I say "my child Charli", everyone assumes its a boy, and I like that, because when she goes to school, it is doubtful she will ever know another Charli that is a girl. Unique, but still a name. For our second child we will be naming them Danny. I hope for a girl actually, because I really want to spell it Dani. I realize she may go to school with a couple girls named that, but then again, Anna Nicoles daughter Dani-Lynn has been in the news a lot, so I expect someone to have copied her. I find it amazing that hollywood can affect what people name their children. I had Charlies name picked out since I was about 15, I knew what I was naming my first child long before I had one, the only reason I named her Charlize, was so she would have a name she could use if she is ever some sort of lawyer or doctor, or something where a cutsie name doesn't work... like a Judge... :) I know about a million Maddys, I used to work in daycare, that is a very overused name. Same goes with Brody, we had a lot of those. Hayden is nice, a great uni-sex name, I love those, obviously, but Harlow, that doesn't sound like a girl name... or a boy name... I hope you find something YOU like.

you can make your words look like this, without any spaces between the sentences.

    or

you can make your words look like this,

    with spaces... :)

just use the chart at this website for help. you need the one with the "br" in it, you'll type it twice to make a space.
