9.5 weeks to go and still no name...

His middle name will be Anthony, for my dad, but we cannot decide on a first name. From the day we found out it was a boy, I've loved the name Leo, but DH thinks it's only a nickname, and should be short for something like Leon, or Leonard, which he dislikes. I told him it's not a nickname, and doesn't have to be short for anything, and until I hear a better name, that's what this baby is going to be called! He loves the name Dexter, but we watch the Showtime series, Dexter, and it sickens me to think of us naming our son after that horrible show. His argument is that in ten years, nobody will even remember that show, and Dexter is a cool name. I don't agree, I'll always know!!! Anyway, advice on this, anyone? Leo Anthony, or Dexter Anthony?

Leo Anthony by a mile. You shouldn't name your child after something that sickens you, even if no one else is affected. Plus, the only other associations I have with Dexter are Dexter's Laboratory and 'poindexter'... nope, no good.

What about Leonardo Anthony--Leonardo DiCaprio is called Leo. I don't mind Dexter, but your feelings toward the name are more important than my opinion. :o)

I think you will always think of why you dont like dexter so it sounds out. As far as leo i have to agree i think of it like joe just sounds short for something Leonardo would work i cant think of anything that hasnt been mentioned but it sounds like a nn to me and years for now when hes in a career he may want something a little more substantial :) good luck
