There's been a lot of discussion about this lately, but--the math teacher/nerd in me is curious what the raw data is.  Smile  Mmm...numbers...

I got mine 2 weeks ago.  My OB strongly suggested it.  I also have a friend who is a pharmacist, and she believes they are completely safe.  Since I trust both of them, I did it.

MY OB insists I should get it, my pediatrician says that she would never recommend it. My husband works for a pharma company and also would not recommend it. So...I got a seasonal flu shot (without thimerosal) and not planning on getting H1N1 shot...

I don't know if there is a difference between the vaccine in the States and Canada but there is now a new H1N1 vaccine for pregnant women in Canada, but my OB does not recommend getting it. I don't know if it's b/c I'm high-risk but I'm also relatively low-risk as a SAHM we're not really out and about much.

I got both shots and glad I did, my 4 year old got H1N1 this week and is doing very good now, thank goodness, but it made it easier to take care of him, since I've had the shot and all. No one else has gotten so far (fingers crossed)

I got vaccinated and I'm glad I did. My two best friends and a girl that I work with have come down with swine flu. It also seems like everyone else I know is getting sick or is sick.

I got the vaccine on a Thursday and my 4 year old came down with H1N1 3 days later. Unfortunately it takes 2 weeks to build immunity from the vaccine and so I still came down with it a few days later. Luckily my OB started me on Tamiflu right away and it made a HUGE difference. But I can see why people come down with pneumonia from this. I could only take very shallow breaths without coughing. This is nothing to mess around with - I suggest everyone gets the vaccine.

We were going to get it, but it contains Mercury.  Mercury causes brain damage.  It also is the 2nd most dangerous element on the planet.

    The thing is, H1N1 contains 49-50 % Thiomersal/Mercury.

Scary on both ends.  It's like being caught between a rock & a hard place!

Missouri has a law where the shot has to be Mercury free for pg women so we had to wait for those doses - but there are some out there that are Mercury free.  I got mine on Halloween.

It is my understanding that the single-dose syringes are thimerosal/mercury-free and are the ones that should be used for pregnant women. In addition, the inhaler sprayer vaccine products also will be thimerosal/mecury-free. Just be sure to ask which one they plan on using to be sure you get the mecury-free vaccine.

I was told by my O.B. that the nasal spray vaccine is not safe for use in pregnanct women because it contains the live virus. And the mercury free versions are more expensive and in shorter supply, so unless you specially requested the mercury free vaccine, you probably didn't get that one. I'm choosing to not get this vaccine, at least unltil after I deliver, for that very reason. I just don't trust the pharmaceutical industry with the safety of my perfectly healthy baby. After delivery, I may consider getting it, to lower the chances of my newborn catching H1N1, but honestly, I'm not at all worried about it as of right now.

I am getting mine Sat, I have read up on this alot, and talked to my OB and the kids pediatrician. Nothing is full - proof, but without it Kadynce will be born in the middle of flu season, with nothing to help her fight it off. I debated getting it, but when it is all said and done.. I would rather be safe than sorry. JMO...
